Hows the MSE Final on System Resources?

Don't worry, I'm not going to get riled up. If someone can't be bothered to learn to use quotes properly, there probably isn't much worth pouring over and digging out anyway. It's difficult to take someone's argument seriously if they don't present it in a clear, concise manner.

By the way, if I called someone a dick, and then added a :), that doesn't change the fact that I called them a dick. There's humor, and then there's thinly-veiled jabs.

hi !

"If someone can't be bothered to learn to use quotes properly"

what´s not "properly" with how i use quotes ???

first you tell me what software I need on *MY* PC, are you to tell me how i write too ?

"It's difficult to take someone's argument seriously if they don't present it in a clear, concise manner."

i have given a VERY clear answer to your questions...

you are obviously running out of arguments now ?

good to see that you don´t have anything more useful to say about what i run on my PC..

THANKS !

i have other more important things to do than wasting my time on a useless discussion with you..

You're classic. Every forum has one! Never did I tell you what you NEEDED to run on your specific PC. I explained how your issues could likely be caused by the software YOU chose to run on your PC. You didn't like having someone call out your attitude, or being told that there's a better way of doing something, so YOU decided to get a bug up your ass about it. You've contributed nothing of value to this thread, and you can't even be bothered to click the big Quote button so someone might be able to follow along with what you say. With that lack of effort, why should anyone try parse through your comments, especially when they'd find nothing useful to the thread topic. You were called out on your comments and your atttitude, and now you want to get all kiddie and defensive. Every forum has them, and I just found the one that resides here. So, take your pick. You can learn to express yourself in a clear manner, using the tools provided by the forum's creators, or you can continue down the typical path of useless bashing of anyone who disagrees with you, or suggests other methods to your procedures. It's up to you.

Enough arguing. End it right now, before it goes further. Insults/flaming/abuse to other members is not tolerated here, and will get you banned.

Fair enough. I'll reiterate my point, for those who want to skip through the arguments. If you run two resident scanners at once (or even have them installed), you will likely have issues, due to both apps trying to compete for the same resources. If you want to test out one or the other, there are plenty of other methods of doing so, that eliminate variables in the testing methods. VMs have been a huge help to those of us doing software testing and comparisons.

That all being said, MSE has been very impressive, even in beta form. It's been lightweight, updated frequently, scored high in detections rates, and just so happens to be free as well.

VERY TRUE. What people dont understand is that having 2 antiviruses will slow everything down by far.
EVERY file that touches your PC is Scanned BEFORE it is let into your pc. When you move files, your antivirus scans them 1 by 1 before letting it transfer. This is why when you have your AnTiVirus disabled your transfer speeds between your flash drive and pc are slower.
Avast! Does very poorly here. Do a full scan with avast. Now ESET. We can tell ESET does it a lot faster, which means avast will slow down your computer more (Not to mention how well ESET manages to scan 2 files at the same time - 1 on both CPUS, or 8 files at once on an i7).

RAM isent the only factor when comparing antivirus's performance, its the LEAST. The CPU usage is a big factor, as an antivirus that uses lots of CPU (I remember avast! web shield using 30% CPU while watching youtube vids on my old 1.6ghz celeron, UNREAL). Scanning speed is probably the biggest. All thoes backup files arent going to transfer to your flash drive until the antivirus is done scanning files, 1 by 1. It scans when transferring btw.

Hackerman, you are pushing your system way to hard!
You will get severe conflicts running more than 1 resident AV program. Look at your resources with over 50% of your memory being committed and 100% of your processor.
Thats way to dangerous!
