OK... I have Windows 7 Premium 64-bit and a SAPPHIRE HD 7970 3GB GDDR5 OC with Boost video card installed. When I have 1 cable on the back of the video card connected to a monitor, all is well. When I connect 2 is when the issue shows itself. I currently have my television as a 2nd monitor via HDMI cable. My computer's main monitor is connected via DVI cable. I've tried other cables (same type and display port), to no avail. When I attempt to watch a movie from my computer to my TV, I get a horizontal line in the video with a VERY slight lag between the two sides. When I disconnect my main monitor, the line disappears on the TV. The line is not on the main monitor, just the TV. I've even tried different TVs... same problem. I believe it's something within Windows 7 because I've had this same issue with other video cards. I've tried uninstalling the video drivers and using windows drivers instead, but issue remains. If you make the video screen smaller so you can still see the desktop and click on the box to drag it along the horizontal line, part of the box that intersects the line slightly drags behind the rest of the box. I've even tried disabling Aero.

I know I rambled trying to explain my issue... but I hope someone reading it can identify this problem and help with a solution.

I have exactly the same issue, but I put it down to the fact that i'm running in single display performance mode with my Nvidia card, to fix this, I set my initial display to only show on this monitor (1 or 2, within options from desktop), this gets rid of any tearing and cleans up the image with no lag or delay.

MrNeeds - That does fix the problem with the tearing and lag. Thank you! I'm still wondering what is causing the problem and is there a way to fix it without having to make changes every time I want to use the TV as my monitor??

Does anyone think a powered HDMI Splitter / Hub would fix this issue?

Does ANYONE have any thoughts or ideas on how to fix this problem? I have the work around that MrNeeds gave me (Thank you). I would just like to get to the root of the problem and get it properly fixed.

you could try this, set your primary display to your tv and right click the desktop and go to screen resolution, there should be an option for advanced settings in there, click that and on that first screen that comes up, choose list all modes, now, in here, the resolution should be set at 1920x1080 true color 50Hz, instead of the 50Hz, choose 60Hz (providing your TV supports it, try 59Hz if the tearing is still there) this should get rid of the tearing finally, I discovered it from this article after you left me some feedback, it's working on mine now.

OK... I have figured out a solution that suits me just fine. I purchased a "POWERED" HDMI Splitter on eBay for $10. Now, I have an HDMI cable going from my computer to the splitter. It simultaneously splits the HDMI signal to both my desktop monitor and television . The only (minor) issues I have found so far is that when you look under Screen Resolution, only the desktop monitor shows up. Also under Sound, the options there changed too... just in title alone. I can still switch my audio to my Home Entertainment system... just a little differently now. Picture quality is as good as before and there is no more lag or screen tears.

glad that works for you JFC15, I'll keep an eye open for any other fixes for this issue, mine seems to be fixed though.

I'm going to try your solution tonight. The less I have to have connected to my computer, the better. Thanks again for helping me out.
