KB3004394 breaks Windows genuine (error code 0x8004fe21)?

Tonight I received a message to the effect I now have counterfeit Windows. This was after taking a bunch of Windows updates last night. The error code is 0x8004fe21

The MGADiag dump is pasted below. I also pasted a list of the updates that were installed last night.

Per this thread, there have been issues with Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3004394). This post suggests uninstalling KB3004394 and hiding it from the update list.

Is that the correct action on my system? Thanks for any assistance.

That update is causing a lot of different problems for a lot of people. If you have any random problem with troubleshooters and windows activation etc.. and they started recently, uninstall this update and reboot, possibly twice.

Looks like this is fixed.

I installed KB3024777, which theoretically uninstalled KB3004394, and rebooted, as directed.

The resulting MGADiag looks better (pasted below). There are no more, "File mismatches," or, "Tampered files." Then again, I don't know what else to look for in that dump.

I also did the online validation thing, and it seems to have passed.

It's been popping up windows accusing me of pirating Windows daily since installing KB3004394. I'll give it a couple of days to see if it stops.

If the installation of KB 3004394 is causing problems on these computers, remove the update, and then restart the computers. The ability to remove Windows Updates through Control Panel may no longer function on some Windows 7 SP1-based and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1-based computers after KB 3004394 is installed.

I did not see any reference where it says it is unadvised to uninstall the update.

I read that as meaning that uninstalling the patch may break the Control Panel uninstall - but I can see where it may also mean the patch itself breaks the CP.
