Well.. I was really hoping it'd be a software issue instead.. :/

I have another question, how should I ship the motherboard? I'm actually really worried about it. I'm thinking of just placing it in the box it came with and then another cardboard box and shipping it over?

Yeah, I suppose happy wasn't the best word for the ending.

The RMA should tell you how to return the board, if not call GIGABYTE and ask them how they want it packaged.

The original box plus a shipping box is probably what they will tell you.
Some, but not all send you the shipping materials.
Some, but not all pay for return shipping.

Only GIGABYTE can tell you for certain.

I wouldn't worry too much if it's faulty - if it tests ok at GIGABYTE and they ship it back they're responsible for it until you get it. If it's still flakey, keep sending it back until you get satisfaction. Most vendors are really good about RMA'd equipment.

It's frustrating, but better to know that you have a good board than to deal with crashes.

• All items need to be authorized with RMA number prior to shipping to GIGABYTE.
  
  
• Customers are responsible for one-way shipping to GIGABYTE.
  :ar: If you ask nicely and include the words "customer satisfaction" they might bend that rule and pay for shipping both ways.
  :warn: If they won't budge, make sure you insure that shipment for the full retail value.
  My experience with two vendors whose policy was identical to GIGABYTES policy:
  HP wouldn't budge on two items, two separate RMAs ... I shipped and insured one way
  Asus paid full fare, both ways
  - it's hit or miss. Be cordial and professional.​
  
  
• GIGABYTE is not responsible for any shipping damages during transit,
  customer induced physical damages and/or non-GIGABYTE branded products.

Thank you for this. They told me I could use any carrier I want. So when I head to UPS or Fedex, do I tell them I want it insured? Sorry, I'm a little bit paranoid about this now. I've already applied for the RMA and it's waiting for approval. So far, I've not seen any instructions anywhere.

I would insure the shipment if it were my board. IT shouldn't cost that much more.

When you get the RMA#, go to the link I posted above and register. You could do that before you get the RMA# I suppose. There should be all the instructions and forms you need.

If you don't get an RMA# in a day or two - call back and let them know. They have lots of customers, things fall though the cracks sometimes - and this is a weekend.

If you get stuck, call and tell them you can't figure out the next steps. Since I'm not registered at GIGABYTE (I don't own any of their hardware so I don't have a reason to register), I can't get you any further than that.

Look around on the RMA main page, read what you find - call them if you need to confirm or clarify something.

That's about the best I can do - everything else has to come from GIGABYTE for it to be accurate and useful.

I would remove GPU driver by using Driver Sweeper 3.2.0 Download - TechSpot and re install it again and I would disable Hardware Acceleration in Chrome, hope it helps

I have this same board. I am a bit more tech savvy than most. I am trying to run this in dual channel and have the same problems as OP. I found a solution. The only way I could boot my computer (to post/bios) was one ram stick. I while only using one ram stick set the Dram voltage to 1.64 and re install all ram sticks. Your computer will now boot normally. Now do not run XMP profiles. Now set your timings manually (if you know how if not leave this alone) eg; 9,9,9,24. Now is should boot up just fine. I am testing my system for stability. It seems that depending on what ram you use you might need to increase the voltage more (even though your ram is probably 1.5v) ive read that some use up to 1.7 dram voltage (kinda much but if it works it works..). Also keep in mind all of my ram sticks were rated at same timings 9,9,9,24 1600mhz and all were suppose to be stock dram voltage of 1.5. Yet running increasing voltage to 1.64 seem to fix everything for me so far. increasing to 1.64 increases voltage for all ram slots. You go into bios, go to voltages, then dram voltage. if you just go to ram then the voltage profile will be grayed out so you must go to the specific voltages area in the bios (kinda tricky to find)

hopefully this works for you OP. this solution worked for me. Just dont update the bios or something because if you reload optimized defaults in bios again then you will have to repeat the process to post again. IDK but this mobo doesnt seem to be supplying ram with adaquate voltage. strange. upping the voltage makes everything work though. just try to keep it at 1.64 or 1.66 dram voltage. Works in dual channel now with all 4 sticks for me. Goodluck.

also for reference I am using 2 sticks of balistix sport, and 2 gskill ripjaws sticks, both labeled to run at 1.5v stock/default, 1600mhz, ddr3, and 9,9,9,24. 4 sticks in total, now running in dual channel. i5 cpu

Asking about the voltages might be enough for them to think more about it.

Yup, Gigabyte received my motherboard two days ago and I believe they've begun testing it. I've written a detailed description of my problems as well as the testing I've done throughout. They hadn't called me back on anything yet. But I'll be sure to update this thread when I have newer information.

But thank you, thorscharizard, for that. I wish I had tried that.

This is where I would bring up thorscharizard's information when speaking with Gigabyte.

I'm sure they tested with known configurations and were unable to find a point of failure.

This is my recollection of the thread, if I got something wrong, then you don't want to misrepresent what you did based on my comments below.

I would probably ask them if they thought setting the voltages would have any affect. I would confirm the memory you have with them and mention that a Gigabyte rep went over this before you sent the board and that rep said that the memory was ok for the board.

That might be enough for them to take another test run on the board.

If you don't feel that their findings are satisfactory, say that, but say it politely. They're people doing a job.

If the resolution is unchanged, you always have the option to escalate the resolution, just ask if you can speak with a supervisor.

Bring up the voltages question again with the supervisor and mention that if the board comes back and you adjust the voltages, you will be less likely to purchase Gigabyte component pieces in the future.

That's the really tricky part - no yelling, no demands, just calmly and politely say "I don't know... if the I put this back together and it doesn't work, and then adjust the voltages and it does work .... I'll be hard pressed to consider Gigabyte for future purchases. What memory did you test the board with? I know it's impossible for you test every configuration. If you need any more information from me, let me know. Where do we go from here? What's the next step?"

It's really all about working with the other person - they might truly be stumped.

In the end it might not change anything, they might say "We've checked it as much as we can and we're shipping the board back to you"

Then you'll have to try adjusting the voltages with your memory installed. If that does solve the issue, contact Gigabyte again and discuss your new findings.

If adjusting the voltages doesn't resolve the issue - see if you can lay your hands on different memory.

Hey all, I apologize I hadn't updated this thread for a long time. There honestly hasn't been much to update until today.

A few weeks ago, I waited patiently for Gigabyte to finish testing my motherboard. I contacted technical support who told me that it has finished testing, but no problems were found with it. I managed to get them to test it a second round with the same results. Tech support told me that if the problems persist after I re-test it, I will be eligible for a complete replacement. A few days later, I received my motherboard and tested it. Sure enough, there were still errors. I didn't immediately call to complain as there was one more thing left to test: the processor.

I contacted Intel as I didn't have a spare processor to test and told them my issue. They agreed to replace my processor no questions asked. Kudos, Intel. I just received my new processor a few hours ago and plugged everything in. So far, an hour in, there has been no crashes. I've also ran Assassin Creed and it didn't crash to the desktop. It seems that it may have been the processor after all? I'm currently running additional testing including with my graphics card and I'll be sure to keep you guys updated!

Good news NanoDice and great follow through with Gigabyte and Intel.

Run the machine for a few weeks and if crashes occur, you should contact Gigabyte again and update them with the CPU information. These are good companies (Intel, Gigabyte) and you should be comfortable contacting them concerning issues with their products.

Intel made good with a new CPU and Gigabyte offered a replacement board if it comes to that.

Please keep the thread open and update it when you have something (everything works fine or another crash occurred).

An Update for the all of you: My system has been working fine ever since the last update! It appears the processor was at fault after all!

Good news, that the issue was resolved and that Intel replaced the CPU, it's a shame that it cost your Mobo a trip to Gigabyte. Thanks for the update NanoDice and for marking your thread solved.

As a courtesy, consider updating Gigabyte with the information as well.

I just did! I also added a last update to the first post of this thread and also a conclusion so anyone with the same problem may know how I went about fixing it.
