AVAST 2015 SP1 (10.0.2207)

Hi,
just a small notice about upcoming program update - AVAST 2015 SP1 (build number 10.0.2207). We've released this version as a beta build now. If everything is ok, the final release should come in the following days.
What is fixed?

* Missing NG component under certain circumstances
* Fixed a bug in the keyboard driver causing problems with keyboards
* Better compatibility of the WebShield with some https pages (e.g. spotify, waze, etc.)
* SecureDNS - better logic of server selection resulting in performance improvements
* Fixed reported crashes

Latest Avast reportedly deleting Firefox add-ons

Several locations on the Internet, including the official Avast forum, Reddit and Firefox support site Mozilla Zine, are filling up with user reports that that latest version of Avast deletes Firefox add-ons automatically.

Some users report that add-ons get deleted automatically on startup and without option to prevent this from happening in the first place.

The issue does not seem to be linked to the program's Browser Cleanup tool directly even though it is designed to detect and remove lowly rated plugins and browser extensions that are installed in popular browsers such as Firefox or Internet Explorer.

It is unclear right now what is causing the issue and why only some users of the browser who have Avast installed on their systems are affected by the automatic removal of Firefox add-ons on the system.

Brink, do you recommend this over MSE? There's been a few times I've asked for help here and I've been told or it's been a part of guides to install MSE.

Many like MSE, and it's often suggested in troubleshooting BSOD for instance, as there are few, if any, instances of it interfering with Windows. Other AV programs have been the issue in these cases. However, every instance of these AV programs certainly do not cause issues. I personally have used the free Avast since XP days without it causing issues with Windows. It is much better rated then MSE as far as effectiveness. But then, I'm not Brink

Both Avast and MSE are great free choices, but Avast is rated to be more effective.

I do not know if this has been mentioned before but with the free Avast the little promo pop ups you get about once or twice a day asking if you want to upgrade etc there is a one as of late that asks if you would take part in one of their surveys to help improve Avast etc etc Do not take that survey ! you will get nagged by the pop up every couple of hours after that ! and it becomes a real PITA.
