My graphic's card choice is an very expensive "might be mistake" that I have to decide on pretty quickly if I want to keep it and use it or send it back 1100.us
I can't see me forking out 1000.us for 1/ 4k monitor to use it's full capacity so it's wasted in that respect.
EVGA can't keep anything in stock

Well I have the Pro version of 7 so I'd be upgraded to 10 Pro so will have some control. But yeah those forced updates on the home versions are a bit of a pain in the a**. Seems like home versions will be used as beta testers for the updates. Unless they're going to do a lot of thorough testing before they get pushed out.
Even choosing when to install them would be at least a small consolation.

Yep pro @199.us is a no go it would be cheaper to buy win-8.1 for 99.00 @ I believe Micro Center it was a add on from the monitors options I want to buy :/

I think if you turn on metered connections you could possibly delay the updates from being downloaded. I read it works that way in the w10 preview, don't know if it will for the release.

Windows media center is being discontinued because of its lack of users. Check the validity of this statement. Check this http://www.sevenforums.com/media-center/ and see its activity. If there is no adequate demand, the supplier will not be interested to produce it. How frequently you use your media center?

Almost everybody uses other programs for DVD Playback. I use VLC. Most of the optical disc drives comes with bundled Cyberlink software. So it is not a thing to cry on, as I never cared of it when it was available.

If not having Floppy drive support is a loss, Not having a pet dinosaur is an equal loss. Correct me if I am wrong.

Windows Live Essentials (Windows Essentials) was useful mostly for WLM which is already discontinued. There is Skype if IM is needed. Though I read a different thing:

If you have Windows Live Essentials installed on your system, the OneDrive application is removed and replaced with the inbox version of OneDrive.

Windows Virtual PC with Windows XP Mode was introduced with windows 7 for the migrants from XP. Who will use XP mode these days? :sarc:

The highlighted question is Windows Updates. Read it again ....

Windows 10 Home users will have updates from Windows Update automatically available. Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise users will have the ability to defer updates.

Every day we get closer to the official launch of Windows 10, the haters get more and more desperate to find usable weapons. Now they are closer to a corner than ever; can't complain about the price (free), can't complain about missing Start Menu (it's there), can't complain about "I am forced to cloud" (no cloud services or MS Accounts needed to run Windows 10), can't whine about "I don't want a mobile touch OS for my desktop" (Windows 10 is a full-fledged desktop operating system with absolutely no need whatsoever for a touch device or touch screen), and so on.

As it is, they are a bit like Don Quixote, fighting against imaginary enemies.

The more I read about this, the more impressed I'm becoming. From reading everything on that page it's eased a lot of my early scepticism about the free upgrade. The main one being retail licences. At least they've been clear about what's being taken away - WMC, home update deferral, etc.
Floppy drive? Pretty sure nobody uses those now. Gadgets can be replaced. DVD can be replaced with GOM or VLC. WMC can be replaced by Kodi or Plex.

I'm genuinely starting to think that MS just wants to get everyone on one OS and that's a good thing.
It'll be a lot easier for devs and everyday consumers if we're all using the same platform.
I still won't be early adopting, but that's mainly because I'd prefer MS and other software to work out the early kinks first, but it's looking highly likely that I'll be installing it sometime within the first 12 months.

I can understand some people's concerns though. Let's face it, Windows 7 is a rock solid OS so it'll be a hard thing to give up. Windows 10 won't be to everyone's taste. I've been impressed with what I've seen so far.

I think the only ones really miffed by the lose of Media Center are those with TV/cable cards. I have one, but don't use it anymore. Everything is digital here now and encoded so I have no choice but to use my ISP's cable decoder box. I have a DVR in my package so my TV card is no longer needed. It came with software, Win TV I think? It sucked compared to Media Center though. Just about anything else in Media center can be done with other Apps/Programs. I run KODI on my Raspberry Pi as my Media Center in my bedroom. It's not bad once you get used to it.

The only one in the list I'd miss would be the Live Essential package, but only the Windows Live Mail part, that's my email client plus my RSS Feeds home. I have Ashampoo software for all my DVD needs and I can't remember how many years ago it was I had a machine with a floppy drive.

Where's this information about Live Mail no longer working in Windows 10 coming from? Have I missed an announcement? Of course everyone knows that the Live Messenger is discontinued, MS killed it over two years ago in April 2013, last version published a year before that. But Live Mail? Is this "Thrash News"?

At least in Build 10130, the latest at the moment, the Windows Live Mail works well.

I was just going by the fact that they are apparently getting rid of the Windows Live Essentials suite of programs and WLM is part of that. I've not really looked into the Mail program in Windows 10 as I installed WLM and use that.

I'm not really taking any notice of all the talk about what and what isn't included it's a new OS and I'm looking forward to using it, but that's me easily pleased.

I don't know what the info in that article really means, and if it is right or wrong ...
I think that is one example of where this info is coming from that people interpret as "WLM being discontinued".

I ran the W10 compatibility checker on one of my systems.
No problems with hardware compatibility.
It showed 1 program was not compatible with W10.
I have WLM on that system and it did not get flagged as incompatible.
