But I've only installed the MSN Weather gadget to work with it and Believe the Windows 7 style weather gadget may still no longer work.

gregrocker, I am assuming either yahoo email is provided by your isp or you are paying for it. You can use Thunderbird to download yahoo email if that would work better for you. I think yahoo supports both POP & IMAP but unless your isp pays for that, you have to pay for that yourself.

I use Yahoo webmail as well as Hotmail so I can compare in Mail app which worked fine for 6 months with only minor bugs. Suddenly it seems they are trying to decrease the functionality of Yahoo mail specifically in the mail app even as they increase the functionality for Gmail, making it a menu selection choice while Yahoo is not. But then a few builds back only Exchange was listed as a Microsoft mail menu choice.

And there's other buggyness around the edges which are not focused on so much because it passes, like a referenced memory error on shutdown and a regular crash I'll research more soon

Microsoft Works 7 does work in windows 10 preview at least for me.

Nope. There is nothing to say because these are among the same things I've been "whining' about as soon as we found out about them (the only weapon you took away was my mistaken belief that Office 365 was cloud based, which was kinda like taking away one bullet from a clip of nine). We get it; you like Win 10. Good for you. Some people don't like it. Disliking it even if it's for appearance only is a valid reason. Build a bridge and get over it...unless you want to pay for the hardware and software I would need to replace if I went to Win 10.

That was not childish nor absurd. Take the Outlook Express for example, search it here at the Seven Forums, at Vista Forums and any other Vista / Windows 7 site on the Interwebs. The same whining, about how the OE in XP was the best possible email client and the reason to stay in XP and never upgrade. And where's the OE today? Forgotten.

History repeats itself. An obscure relic in a legacy OS is so important and impossible to replace that the forums are filled with complaints for it no longer being supported. Those not objecting the change in general adapt a bit faster, those objecting the change for the sake of the change itself a bit slower but the life goes on, the technology and the OS we use evolve.

Not to start a controversy but Outlook Express is technically still around but it is called windows live mail which is part of windows essentials. It still uses some of the old Outlook Express settings and features with some new stuff added.

Actually, the way you and "Gru" were putting it was childish. Yes, Outlaw Express (I never was fond of it or the full blown version) went away and people eventually adapted but that doesn't mean it didn't cause inconvenience and expense when it happened.

Thanks for reminding me about Works, btw. I'm still using Microsoft Picture It! 7.0 because I have yet to find an affordable graphics editor that can meet my needs as well and easily as this one does (and I have tried dozens). If it doesn't work in Win 10 (that has yet to be established), then there would another reason for me to not go to Win 10.

Not everyone is made of money I'm retired on a so called fixed income (inflation kills the notion of fixed). It's one thing when I choose to spend money for something I want; it's completely different when I'm forced to spend it because some company decides to change things. It's like cars. Some people like to replace them every year or two; others prefer to keep running them for as long as the cars can cost effectively meet their needs. Same for software; why replace something that meets one's needs? In other words, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It will cost me money to take the "free" upgrade to Win 10; somewhere well north of $1000 dollars, based on what I know will need replacing now. How far north depends on what hardware and software incompatibilities I would encounter that I don't know about yet. Again, are you offering to pay for that for me?

Well, windows NT 3.1 is technically still around and is called windows 10 insider preview. I often use calculator, media player and command prompt.

Of course their are older programs and hardware that won't work well or at all with Windows 10.

That is to be expected. It's always been the way with computer technology.

One just takes the price and desires into consideration and makes a choice.

As of now Windows 10 is not mandatory. We all still can choose to use it or not.

I will just watch how things go with Windows 10. No one is going to talk me into using Windows 10 or talk me out of using Windows 10. I'm in no hurry one way or the other.

I remember when I went through all my stuff and got rid of most all the XP stuff I had for years. It didn't work with Windows 7 I didn't want it. I really like XP. It was a hard choice for me to move to Windows 7. Reading this forum years ago helped me make the decision.

Moved to Windows 7 and never looked back.
The time will come when I will do the same with Windows 7.

When ready for prime time Windows 10 comes out I will spend a lot more time on the Ten Forum reading and learning. That should help me choose.

One of my concerns is, will I be able to get under the hood of Windows 10 like I could in Xp and Windows 7 and change things or fix things..
I don't make a lot of changes. I in the most part let Windows 7 be Windows 7. I do like to snoop and tinker.

Thanks to members on the Ten Forum for getting a good start on the Tutorial. Tutorial mean a lot to me. Remember I only have 3 brain cell so I need tutorials.

New operating systems are like pickles. Some like them and some don't.
Their is no inbetweeners. I like that new word (inbetweeners).

I can see the possibility of several years more support for Windows 7 because it is too successful for even a smashing successor to replace that quickly. There will be holdouts just as there were for XP who are not Luddites in this case but perhaps only recently settled into 7 from XP or refugees burned by 8. They have found an OS that runs like a champ.

Most don't even realize the kneecapping that was done to the greatest OS ever by its unappreciative masters who inexcusably gave it no SP2 and took it off sale almost everywhere. The utter shame of this never occurred to them even after the 8 debacle until we spoke truth to one of the most powerful corporations on earth in an MVP Focus Group at Summit two years ago and surprisingly they listened resulting in a complete change in approach for Windows 10.

The massive feedback infrastructure built at great expense to give consumers what they want has funneled most into MS Support structures. This is where I will likely migrate once work is completed here at the forums which we made the all-time best. I predict MS itself will reap the next generation of support talent due to their new openness and direction. Bullying trolls and institutional in-group backbiting are what will be left behind.
