Windows 7 32 / 64 bit cd keys, 32 bit install disc

Hello there Windows 7 forum!
I have just signed up to the forums to ask this question, as searches have not revealed any real results related to my question.
This morning I attended a Windows 7 Launch developer presentation as part of the New Efficiency. We were given copies of Windows 7 Ultimate at the end of the presentation, however I was disappointed to find it was only 32-bit. It says so on the disc.
My question is, is there somewhere I can get ahold of a copy of Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit (say, a download site?), and install it with my CD key I was given? Also, am I right in assuming that my CD key will work for both 64 and 32 bit?

Nope sorry we have all been somewhat disappointed. the only download that Ms has right now is the trial of enterprize. Im not sure about if your key would work with 64 bit.

Your CD key is valid for either x64 or x86 (32 bit), just not both at the same time. I don't trust downloading an OS from those websites, so I'd find a friend with TechNet or MSDN/MSDNAA and have them burn you a copy of the x64 media. Or, if you planned on buying additional licenses, use the media from one of those purchases to install with your other keys.

Also, if it turns out like Vista, and those keys are retail, you'll be able to buy an x64 disc from MS for about $10.

I'm glad to hear that the CD key should work with 64, provided I can find a copy, shame I will have to wait until it's released though most likely

I also went to one of those events, and I think they dropped the ball on this one -- the packaging rear says dvd 32 and/or 64. It's actually pretty lame to tout win7 to devs and IT and then hand them 32 only!

Frankly, I think we should be able to talk to MS and have them send us the 64 media. I would start by emailing or tweeting to the presenters...

If you download a 64 bit version, which you could find via google, you could verify whether it is unmodified from the official MS version by checking the hash values of the iso and comparing it to the values of the original official MS version. The original MS values are posted in the FAQ of this site. If the values match, you are assured the iso you downloaded is the real unmodified thing. Your 32 bit key will work for the 64 bit version but you are only allowed to have one activated version using that key at any one time.

A free program that enables you to make that hash value comparison is hashtab.
