Solved Installing Windows 7 64bit on a Dell M4700 laptop. Help Plz

Okay so my brother's gf has a dell laptop and is trying to install windows 7 64bit on it. When they run through the setup it gives them the error - “Windows Setup could not configure Windows on this computer’s hardware." How can they resolve this? Thanks in advance.

Why are they installing windows 7 on it ?

What OS original came with the laptop ? It will tell you on the COA

Where did the windows 7 installer come from ?

Go into the bios, set it to default (F5) save (F10) and exit.

Try again.

They were reformatting the laptop.
The laptop comes with Win7.
They were using a OEM win7 disc.
We have tried defaulting the bios, and reinstalling. Same issue comes up everytime.
