The 64 bit OS uses more of the available memory than a 32 bit. Thus with whatever else is using memory the 64 bit OS can cause less memory to be available.

Unless there is an option in his BIOS for resizing the Hardware reserved ram?

i've looked at bios before i came here but it has vary minimalistic options i think thats just because the pc im using now was bought in store ie prebuilt hp desktop back in 06 but i've modded it since then but for the moment im using the mobo that came with it so all options on my bios are kinda useless

You have to click Resource Monitor, then the memory tab, then post a snip.

It`s your motherboard and most likely you can`t do anything about it.

Are you using on board graphics ?

or.....

Are you using a video card ?

Please fill in your computer specs :)

I meant fill in your specs at the bottom left corner of your reply, you don`t want to go filling in your specs in every reply :)

I have an E6700 in my Gateway, that`s a good little cpu.

You didn`t say if you are using the motherboard graphics or if you have a graphics card installed ?????

Your memory is all there, you have 2690 MB dedicated to hardware.

Could you post a shot of your WEI, particularly this shot here.

I see you`re using a 550, my bad :o

The only thing I can suggest is, find out the maximum amount of memory your board supports and install that amount.

6 GB is a strange amount.

All the specs I dig up say your board supports a maximum of 4 GB, but you have 6 installed, so I have no idea what the max is.

the reason it is 6 gb is the pc came with 2 1gb sticks and 2 512's i actually bought 2 dimms 4gb ram and tossed the 512's (still have em its just garbage ram though) i kinda bought the ram with out looking at the specs again but its still not a waste because as i said i still have another board only really need a case, the other board i have can carry 8gb of ram i was just seeing if there was a way i could maximize what i can use on this mobo for now.
