Well, it hasn't been "forced" on either my Mothers or my Brother-in laws machines. I just took the precautions already described above for them.

I've got a VM sat auto installing every update available waiting in hope that MSFT will start forcing updates on people (I'd be able to retire the month after with all the traffic that would cause).

Sadly forced Windows 10 upgrades just ain't going to happen

Most here know that W-10 can't be installed without user action.

Now, some users don't pay attention what is going on with their system and might get W-10 by mistake. That to me is a possibility.
As has already been posted; their are ways to correct this mistaken W-10 install but I'm thinking many million of users don't know that information. Once they get the mistaken W-10 installation they are lost puppies.

When it comes to W-10, Microsoft is just being a over bearing salesman.
Just like a vacuum cleaner salesman at your door. Just say no and lock the door if you don't want W-10 at this time.
If you decide later you want the vacuum cleaner just open the door when the salesman comes knocking again.
I try to remember that their are a lot of people that want W-10 and they like the free vacuum cleaner.

If one likes W-10 those nags are a blessing. Those that don't want W-10 they are a pain in the backside.

The only solution to the pushy sales person in my opinion is the learn your system and know how to open and shut the door when the sales person comes knocking.

What you all who are saying the "forced upgrades" aren't happening are forgetting is the vast majority of Win 7 and Win 8.x users do not have the "computer chops" to know how to avoid having their computers seemingly automagically upgraded to Win 10 like most of us do on this forum (this includes most enterprise users since those depend on an IT department to maintain the company computers). What seems like very basic knowledge to most of us may as well be Greek or Klingon to them. If it wasn't for this and a couple of other forums, I would also have been taken in by the deceptive techniques being employed by MS to get people to switch over to Win 10. Yes, it takes an action on the user to upgrade (btw, I'm using the term "upgrade" very loosely) but the way MS has been handling this, it's extremely easy for an uninformed user to make the wrong action.

Doesn't windows 10 downloaded and start install if windows 7 or 8.x automatic updates are enabled or was that fixed? Regardless, I think Windows 10 still requires you to agree to the EULA before it even is installed.

What about those who received the notice to choose between installing Win 10 now or tonight, the so called mistake MS made a while back? The way out of that one was to click on the little X in the upper right corner but most people did not know that.

Again, what seems obvious to most of us is NOT that obvious to most people, including what seems to us to be simple yes an no choices.

Frankly, your attitude that people who are not as knowledge as you seem to think they should be should not allowed near computers is sad. Not everyone is going to as gifted as you when it comes to computers but they still need to use them in most jobs and, often, in their personal lives (though smart phones have taken over that need for most of those).

Did MS just say hey, we don`t need money anymore, we`ll pay our employees with rice.

I for one just know that I`d work 7 days a week for MS for free, even on Christmas, Easter, overtime, you name it

But it`s not speculation, it`s fact, they have stated it, there I`ve said it twice.

Show me some MS articles by MS that state they will extend it, or hint at it, or anything to that affect ......

I'm not surprised. Even though I do not approve of the way they did it, it was a brilliant marketing strategy. After the dismal upgrade numbers of Win 8.x, MS (more specifically, current management)needed to have a much stronger showing with Win 10, which this campaign has succeeded at achieving. And, to keep that momentum going, MS may decide to extend that offer if MS isn't satisfied with the numbers by then (or may not; it's mostly speculation right now, mayhap even for MS).
