The WU updates do some sort of scan/search at the start of the install. Removing the connection to the Internet causes that scan to quickly give up. If you don't remove the connection to the Internet, the scan/search should eventually complete on its own. (It might take hours.) I've done it both ways and I've not noticed a difference in the outcome - other than the time spent completing the install.
Glad that you finally got a list of updates![]()
I haven't yet started installing these, but it's a good sign. I don't know whether I should install in bulk, or take 10 of them, see what they are, if I need them, install, and repeat 19 times to get all 189. I need to be careful for the 10 update, last thing I need is win10 on a 8 year old laptop.
