Help needed - Cannot re-install Windows 7 Home Premium on an SSD.

Got a new SSD shown below. I installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and doing so system reboots normally. Now in Windows first time to actually install updates and software, but I installed the motherboard chipset and rebooted. All is still okay. Now I go into IExplorer to do the first group of MS updates. So they load okay and system then wants to reboot. Now I have the problem where the system cannot get to the monitor.

This system has had Windows 7 re-installed in the past at least twice with no problems.
But now the only difference is the below SSD. So I am wondering if the SSD is causing the problem.
Also in the mb bios I am using the selection ACHI as I believe that I should be using for an SSD.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, yes ACHI should be selected in BIOS before Win 7 is loaded, not after.
If you have installed Chipset and then MS Updates then the Updates are more than likely your problem.
Updates may have installed a Video driver not compatible.
Start the PC in Safe Mode and go to Device Manager and roll back the Graphics driver then re-boot normal.
If this is not helpful then start in Safe Mode and use your System Restore to a date before the problem started.

Sorry Mr Ranger sir, I just copied what the OP wrote.
Of course you are right.
In my experiences some chipsets will allow a loaded OS to switch between each and others require the OS to be installed after the controller is selected and can't be altered.
Lets see if we can find some more hairs to split.

Well I tried everything I could think of. I got further along using a HD instead of the Samsung SSD. I also cleared the mb bios. And yes the bios has ACHI selected before attempting to install the o/s.

But after the first Windows update things go awry. I've installed Windows a zillion times on different computers, but this time it's weird. I am wondering if M$ is doing something to people to get them to buy W10. Maybe I am a bit paranoid.

I might have to buy an inexpensive video card to see if that solves the problem.

My son said that his system crashed while talking to someone using Skype, which I believe is owned by M$. Hum?!

Most of the time I cannot get into Safe mode. I tried uninstall the video card and its driver and was once able to get back into Windows. But the system seems to be in a loop trying to apply the updates.

Well the problem is definitely related to video card drivers. Possibly the vc is dying.

It's possible that Windows is installing the wrong video driver. It's happened to me in the past. You have to go through all the updates before they install, find the video driver, then hide it.

Well re-installing W7 has been a terrible experience this time. Seems like MS is making this process difficult.

At one point in time while rebooting a Cyan colored screen was displayed and had text that stated something like; Your W7 o/s is out of date, it will not longer receive security updates. Then some text about W10. MS is really trying to jam W10 down everyone's throats.

I suggest you folks clone your W7 O/S drive as a backup.

If this windows market share chart is anywhere near correct, it would seem that not too many people want W10.

Windows 7 is finally installed, everything runs okay, but I cannot do security updates. Makes no sense!

They usually update even if somethings wrong.

I've installed Win7_HP on many SSD's without any problem.
- First of all, update your new MB BIOS.
- Configure the BIOS and set Storage Boot and PCI device to UEFI and XHCI Hand off to enable.
- Boot Windows 7 installation with UEFI option.
- Install Windows 7 to your SSD drive.

Very important: After installation, go to device manager and find what hardware isn't working. Install the appropriate drive for all them then reboot.
After reboot go to device manager and find if all hardware is working. Launch windows update.
