Solved New Hard Drive in Laptop and need assistance installing Win 7

Did you go to Install - Advanced- delete ALL partitions - create new and proceed?

It will not allow me to "Delete" any of the 4 partitions. Nor will the "Format" function.

The Icons toward the bottom of the screen are;

1. Refresh, 2. Delete, 3. Format, 4. New, 5. Load Driver, 6. Extend.

Also, Next (which will not function.)

An error message reads: Windows cannot be installed to Disk 0 Partition 1 (Show details)

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style. Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. The partition was reserved by the computer's Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

If you have any data on the disk you want to keep - back it up.
Open cmd prompt window during install by pressing Shift + F10.
Type Diskpart
Type lis dis
Type sel dis 0 ( or whatever the number is )
Type clean
Type convert mbr

press enter after each of the above commands.

If you receive the error message: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style", it’s because your PC is booted in Legacy BIOS mode, but your hard drive is not configured for Legacy BIOS mode.

Boot from the Windows installation media in UEFI mode, so you can use the GPT partition style. This option lets you keep the existing partition style.

Delete all partitions on the disk, so you can use the MBR partition style. In other words, you convert GPT disk to MBR disk. On the "Where do you want to install Windows?" screen delete all partitions on the disk until it's unallocated.

Done. "Install Windows" started as the Operating system loaded. I found cmd.exe via Alt+Tab.

Now what? Restart?

Yes. You should be able to install fine now.If you haven'y done iy before, follow instrucyons in tutorial - very simple:

It appears you have a Magic Wand. I have gotten to the point where I am Installing Windows. Thanks! I'll wait until installation is complete and registration is done before I bother you guys again. As always, we novice out here in the trenches could not survive without your assistance.

Viola! Mission complete. Now my dilemma will be installing the huge quantity of drivers for anything and everything on this laptop.
