Cannot extend partition and need assistance

Hello,

My computer is running windows 7 starter. It was going slowly for me (separate issue which is irrelevant) and so I got my friend to install Linux mint from a USB. We first shrank the C partition to give equal space to have linux and windows 7.

After we started installing linux (we got to the part where you enter your username and password) the pc was still going quite slow and so I decided to abandon the installation and I wanted to revert everything to normal.

Now I have in the disk manager the C partition and next to it on its right a green free space partition. I cannot click extend partition on the C partition because it is greyed out and when I try to delete the free space partition, it says: Error, not enough space to complete this action or something like that...

Anyway, I am very un-knowledgeable in the area of partitions and I want just to bring things back to how they were.

I am willing to do a system recovery. I do not have recovery disks but I can use Acer's e-recovery manager. Although, I am confused because will that not just wipe the C drive but leave the partitions split?

I hope you can assist me please. If you need more information I can provide it.

Thank you indianacarnie for the information and the welcome. What I ended up doing was downloading EASEUS Partition Master and it allowed me to extend the c drive and then I performed a system recovery. I think this has fixed the problem.
