I found that there more than 7,000 files taking up almost 5GB in my hard drive in the TEMP folder. The folder path is the following. It is a Windows 7 64-bit computer.
C:\Users\Windows User\AppData\Local\Temp

Is it to safe to delete all these files?

Thank you.

Should be safe enough, although some of the tools that are available including Ccleaner apply a 24 hour buffer. The ensures that only files 24 hours and more are deleted, thus lessening the chance of accidently trying to, or actually deleting a file, still in use.

This is an arbitrary figure of course and at least in CCleaner it can be disabled in settings, but is something to consider

I have Ccleaner, and so I ran it to clean up. It found more than just in the \AppData\Local\Temp folder, and so I cleaned up almost 12 GB. Thanks for your tips.

Yes you can delete all you want in the temp folder as these are just temporary files that are not used anymore.

I'll express a single caveat which is that it's safe to delete files that other programs saved in the TEMP folder but it's possible that you could have placed some files in there as a temporary measure and then forgot about them. In that case, you might want to take a look at those files to determine if you need them or not.

In most cases though, only files of a temporary nature are put in the TEMP folder so there's no reason not to delete them.

Built my first computer (8Mhz 8088cpu, 640K RAM, 20MB HDD, 2 360K floppy drives) in 1985 and have been building them for myself, relatives and friends ever since.
I found that there more than 7,000 files taking up almost 5GB in my hard drive in the TEMP folder. The folder path is the following. It is a Windows 7 64-bit computer.
C:\Users\Windows User\AppData\Local\Temp

Is it to safe to delete all these files?

Thank you.
Yep! Make a shortcut to access that folder on your desktop, or anywhere you like.

Enter the folder then:

Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+D.

Some files may be left, like your AV temp file. Just leave those.

You can also write a batch file to do the dirty work.

You might as well make one directed to the C:\Windows\Temp directory, and delete those also.

I also use CCleaner, however, I still remove the temp file first.

There are just certain tasks, I prefer to do manually:

My Temp files, Service configs, and ANY registry work. I don't trust 3rd party software to do these.
