Solved No mouse, no keyboard on a reboot.

Honestly why?
Keyboard and mouse work in bios, ubuntu live usb, win10, and the win7 install DVD.

How can if fix this?
I had just started win7, and it hung. So I turned it off, re booted, then no mouse or keyboard.

At the desktop I put in a DVD, and it loaded the screen. So the PC is working.

SAFE mode, no mouse or keyboard either.

USB might be out on your computer. That's happened to me twice; in both cases, my keyboard and mouse quit working.

If your system has PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports, then you could connect a PS/2 keyboard and mouse, then troubleshoot and fix the USB problem.

Can you get to Safe Mode with Networking? If so, will your keyboard and mouse work there? If so, then you can troubleshoot the problem there.

To see if there is a USB problem while in Safe Mode with Networking, go to Device Manager and look at the USB items in the right panel. If any have the yellow triangle next to them, right click on them and uninstall them. After doing that, right click on the top item and tell it to do a scan for new devices (I don't remember how that option is worded).

yes, it was the usb gone dead.
Safe mode had no mouse!
Solution, plug in PS2 mouse and PS2 keyboard, boot win7.
Goto device manager lots of yellow exclamation mark symbols.
Delete all of them as many as there were, win7 started redetecing the usb ports. It all worked, then turn off PC, unplug ps2, then reboot, it all worked!

Without ps2 could not have fixed. I also booted install disc, and tried a recovery point, but no good.

I am right now going to make a recovery disk on DVD.

That was a very easy fix with a PS/2 keyboard and mouse. I wish they would either include PS/2 ports on all motherboards, or make a PCI Express card with true PS/2 ports (not with USB-to-PS/2).

I seemed to happen right after unplugging a usb drive. Entire usb system went dead for the OS.

Glad I had the ps2 parts, otherwise, maybe a full reinstall was all I could think of..

Drivers don't get corrupted by itself.
I suggest you schedule a disk check.
Disk Check - Windows 7 Help Forums
