My Dell desktop came with win7 Home Premium 64 bit installed.
Getting lots of errors everywhere.
1 will not install update KB4074598 even with stand alone Error 80073712
2 Keeps trying to do a Win 10 update and fails Error 80004004-40019
3 Task Scheduler saying for most things "the task image is corrupt or has been tampered with"
4 SFC found and couldn't repair urlmon.dll and sqmapi.dll and iertutil.dll
5 tried to get win 10 out of GPEditor but says GPEditor doesn't exist

I have Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit Upgrade disk with SP1
I have Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit full program disk with SP1
What, if anything would work?

If you have the software AND install keys for all of the software you have installed, and if you have the install key for Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, you could copy off all of your data from the computer, do a clean install of Windows, reinstall all of your software, then copy your data back to the computer. This is "major surgery", but you will end up with a clean install of Windows 7.

A variation on the above is to remove your hard drive, install a new hard drive or an SSD, and do a clean install of Windows on the new drive. Your current hard drive is probably many years old, so this would give you a newer, faster, bigger hard drive than what you currently have. Also, your old drive would still have everything on it, so it would be an easy matter to plug it in if needed to get something off of it.

Your Dell desktop came with win7 Home Premium 64 bit installed. Did you upgraded to Win 10?

You have two options:
- Make a backup of your data and do a Factory recover. It will format your C: drive and load a disk image from the recovery partition. You will end with a computer as it came from Dell. You will need to reinstall all programs and updates.
- You can do a Repair install using your Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit Upgrade disk with SP1. Repair Install - Windows 7 Help Forums
You run Win 7 installation setup from running windows. You will have to provide the Key that is on the COA sticker on the side of your desktop. It will reinstall Win 7 keeping your data and programs. You will have to install all updates.

Use the offline updates MS releases SP2 for Windows 7 - Windows 7 Help Forums

Ultimate iso available.
TechBench

All editions ( pro, home premium, etc ) can be made available from any windows 7 iso - either by removing the ei.cfg file from the sources folder, or by using
eicfg_removal_utility.zip

How do I do a factory recovery?

When you are in Windows, look on the Start menu for a Dell folder. There will probably be a set of Dell utilities, one of which is "Create Factory Restore DVDs", and another is "Do Factory Restore". I strongly recommend that you create one or two sets of factory restore DVDs. Once you have done that, then the easiest thing would be to do the factory restore from the menu rather than from the DVDs. Either that, or boot with Factory Restore DVD #1.

You can go to the Dell website and download a program for creating a Factory Restore flash drive:

Snick,

I see you quoted ? from my post HERE.

The OP probably can use the installation media he already has in this case. He seems to have an "upgrade" dvd.

Curious about TechBench and ei.cfg file.

All the MS consumer dvds contain all the editions. They are the same except for a tiny text file called ei.cfg. By removing that file, all editions become available to install.

The ei.cfg remover toggles off a bit in the iso, so the ei.cfg is ignored.

Alternatively,if you extract the iso to usb stick, you can simply delete ei.cfg file from the sources folder.

You can do the same with your "upgrade" iso.

I think the ei.cfg is there so people don't install the wrong edition by accident, and then find they haven't got the correct product key.

Now that you have done a reinstall, how is it all working?

Be sure to do a backup of your system, so that you can get back to this point if anything goes wrong.
