Can Someone Help me Out?

:D Only thing I want from this laptop are the files.

Well, using that nifty adapter..you will now have a nice EXTRA harddrive (provided you take care of it).

BTW.. that adapter comes with a 2.5" non-conductive rubber cover that you can put over the "removed/bare" hardrive to protect it from shocks.

you will not be disappointed. That adapter is Quick, Easy, and has MANY uses.

Yeah, before you go spending any money though, I would try popping it into a desktop. If it does fit, you should have access to you files without having to spend the extra cash.

How would I plug it into my desktop? I mean there is an extra sata cable sure but what about the power connector, it wouldn't fit?

answered above! a laptop hdd sata connector is the same size as a desktop hdd sata connector--data and power.

i connected mine to my desktop and actually used it as a secondary drive for a while.

^ what he said.

They should be the same size. If not, then you can always buy the adapter, but I would at least give it a shot before shelling out any cash.

Yep, they are completely correct.
There should be extra power plugs comming off your DESKTOP PSU (powersupply)..they are usually white.
They will ONLY connect one way.
You have nothing to lose..give it a try.

I LOVE these EASY to fix problems.

LOL..Oh Yea of little faith.

Glad it worked out for you.
(Even though you probably won't be able to use it in your new computer, make sure you "salvage" the memory chips from your old laptop. you never know when you or someone you know will have a need for them)

...just a suggestion.

Oh definitely that's 2GB or Ram. I took everything out that has value, ram, hard drive (obviously), cd/rw drive battery which is good.
