SIW2, I was testing the 7UPDATERv21B with a Ryzen USB driver.
After updating Boot.wim it asked if I want to install (Simplix) updates. I answered N but it launched the options to witch version I want to install. I don't want it but there is no way out.

Do you mean it asked which Edition you want to update?

It is supposed to do that.

1. If you answered N to Simplix updates:

It will then search to see if you have put any updates in the Updates\Installx64 or Updates\Installx86 folder.

It also checks if you have put any drivers in the Drivers\Installx64 or Drivers\Installx86.

If you have, then you need to tell it which Edition ( or All) you want to integrate your drivers or updates.

That is because some people might just want to put some drivers, and possibly nvme updates into their install.wim.

2. If you added drivers/updates to boot.wim, 7updater automatically creates a new winre.wim with those drivers/updates integrated.

It needs to know to which Edition ( or All) that new winre.wim should be added.

It does install the drivers to the Boot.wim
Then it ask if I want to Download the updates Y or N . I selected N.
Then it ask for witch version I want to install the UPDATES not drivers.
I understood that updates is for install Simplix and the drivers is done from \Drivers (to add them to install.wim)

I could write a very long paragraph explaining all of the above in the cmd file, instead of just the single line asking which edition to Update.

It means the same thing. If you are adding drivers, you will also be adding the new winre.wim to the Edition you select. I would call that updating.

Updating means adding something that wasn't there previously. It doesn't necessarily mean microsoft .msu or .cab files.

I misunderstood.
It ask if I want to Download the updates Y or N . I selected N.
Then it ask for witch version I want to install the UPDATES (not drivers). I selected ALL (*)
Then it began to add the drivers to the images, one by one.
It is good.

I'm am analyzing the 7UPDATERv21B.zip scripts to learn something.
On EXTRACT-ISO.cmd you have a Pecmd that finds a file path.
I want to find a folder path to copy all files and folders on it, using similar commands.

SIW2, can you help me? Attached is the Get_Folder.zip.
I did a similar script that is on Get_Folder\BIN\Sub_CMD\COPY-FOLDER.cmd that I intent to Call from other CMD script.

What does this sequence do?
SET TP=%~dp0
SET TP=%TP:~0,-1%
cd /d "%TP%"

How can I run a file that is one or two steps upstream?
I did cd .. to move one step upstream or cd ..\.. to move two steps upstream. Is there any other way?

1. The %~dp0 variable in a batch file will expand to the drive letter and path of that batch file.

If the batch is on my desktop %~dp0 returns this:

C:\Users\SIW2\Desktop\


2. SET TP =%~dp0

Means set TP to the drive letter and path of the batch file ( TP is the variable which i use to express This Path)

3. SET TP=%TP:~0,-1%

means remove the last character from %TP%. It removes the backslash.

So now if you echo the variable %TP%, it returns this:

C:\Users\SIW2\Desktop

4. cd /d "%TP%"

Means change directory to TP (this path)

That's strange. I just used the logic in a batch file to run system specifications...

I checked and the two \\ don't actually appear and don't seem to have an affect because the .txt file gets created successfully with the correct information!

I did try systeminfo > %~dp0My_System_Specs.txt [I should have said] and it did also work.

I already said it I know that works. But if you echo it as in my post,

echo %~dp0\My_System_Specs.txt

you will see there are two \\.

\\ is OK for some applications, but not for all.

Some things work OK with \\ for example 7zip seems to handle it fine, but not everything does.

That is why it is common practice to remove the \ from %~dp0
