I was playing a game and my computer screen suddently went black.
I tried restarting but after the windows 7 logo my screen just remains black with no mouse cursor.
Windows automatic repair didn't detect anything, I tried booting in safe mode and reinstalling my
graphics card drivers, but that didn't do anyhing. System restore also didn't help.
My display though, looks kind of weird. I have some pictures do show you what I mean.

Hopefully someone can help me,
thanks in advance!

Are you referring to discoloration? If those are not your normal colors, that indicates a failing monitor. Try a different monitor as a test - if it looks normal on a different monitor then its time for a new monitor.

I looked at the four pics in the link. The two on the left are normal, correct? Did the top right always appear when the PC was working OK? The bottom right is weird I know. == You have no backup to restore I guess or you would have done that. == When you reboot, do you get the same thing each time? == Let us know on the few things listed and will try to get you going.

None of the pics are normal. You can see a vertical strip where the colors are different on the top 2 and on the bottom 2 there are lots of horizontal different-coloured lines. You cant really seenit in the photo but it is very noticeable in real life. Then top right is just booting in safe mode. And no unfortunately I have no backup to restore. I tried connecting my pc to a tv through hdmi and VGA but nothing showed up. The tv works with my DVD player. And yes the same thing happens every time, It loads a screen saying launch system repair and start windows normally.

I tried taking a screenshot in safe mode and viewing it on my phone it looks normal.

Try hooking up your monitor to the DVD player. You need to figure out of the failing component is your PC graphics adapter or your monitor.

Since one of the screen shots is for entering Safe Mode, the problem wouldn't be the graphics card since it's drivers aren't loaded.

If he has a Memory Recall in his monitor settings, I suggest trying that.

I connected a laptop to the monitor with the same cable and there was no issue. I also said previously that I tried connecting the pc to a tv and nothing showed up. I tried again with a different hdmi cable and I see the same stuff that I see with my monitor. So there is definitely something wrong with the pc.

It sounds like you have narrowed it down a bit. The monitor is good, so it looks to me it is the graphics card. At this point why not spend $40 and get a new graphics card. I don't see what else it could be. The other posters might weigh in on this, but that would be my suggestion.

Ok so I reinstalled an old graphics card and everything works fine. My only question is, is the problematic graphics card unfixable? Is there anything I can do or will I have to buy a new graphics card? (the one I reinstalled is very outdated).

is the problematic graphics card unfixable? .

your only hope is that the fan has failed OR heatsink has come loose and can be remounted. You can see whether the fan is running while the machine is on - if its not on you can just replace it and you will probably be okay. But if the fan runs, then remove card from the machine then remove the fan and inspect the heatsink underneath it. If the heatsink is not mated to the gpu chip, you can try reseating the heatsink onto the gpu.

Due to extreme competition plus the ability of users to precisely benchmark all video cards, video cards run way closer to the edge of failure than any other computer component, which means way hotter, which means they die eventually, sometimes sooner than later.

You have found the problem, the Graphics Card. Get a new one and you problems are over. Don't try to save a broken Graphics Card. You will end up breaking something else. Good Luck.
