Laptop can't find bluetooth speaker

Been trying to get my laptop to find and add my bluetooth speaker but it is not finding it at all. My phone was able to find it easily but it is not showing up on the laptop. Have tried the older fixes I have found on the site but it doesn't help?

Anybody have any ideas on what the issue is or how to fix it?

1. Turn on your Bluetooth device and make it discoverable. The way you make it discoverable depends on the device. ...
2. Select the Start button. > Devices and Printers.
3. Select Add a device > select the device > Next.
4. Follow any other instructions that might appear. Otherwise, you're done and connected.

Device is on and is discoverable. I had managed to locate it using my phone but it is not showing up when I search on my laptop

Do you mean if I am using a dongle or if there is bluetooth already available on the laptop? Dongle no, bluetooth is available and turned on

Haven't gotten around to updating my computer info but my current laptop is a MSI GL72 6QF-405, customized on Xotic

I'm pretty sure I'm overlooking something obvious but I can't figure it out for the life of me

It looks like you're using Win 10. Perhaps you should post in the Ten Forum.

I meant it was a custom built laptop from Xotic, i.e. choosing parts and whatnot. I am using Window 7 though. I think I have version 6 of Bluetooth (LMP 6.602)

Kind of confusing. Your System Specs say it's ACER. Then you mentioned you have a MSI model. Perhaps you should update the System Specs to your actual configuration.

According to the chart in that link, you're using Bluetooth 4.0.
