Cannot access my 2TB Toshiba External Hard Drive

Context:
I bought a 2TB external a couple of days ago. I was transferring large sets of files (I am a video editor so I try to keep my friend's VoDs on an external to save space) when it notified me that I can't continue the transfer. I got the "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error".
I tried a couple of fixes namely:
-Restarting my computer
-Changing the USB port used
-Changing the drive name from G: to I:
-Used Error-checking from Right Click>Properties>Tools Tab>Check Now (It completed the process but I still cant access it)
-Quick Format (It gave me the "Make sure the drive is connected... It maybe a read only drive" notification)
After the above actions, the drive Properties now shows a blank name with 0 TB used (but I'm pretty sure the files are still there)

The next morning, I tried checking the Disk Management and it shows it has exFAT and not NTSF (not sure if relevant)
Now when clicking the drive, the I/O error is replaced with "I: is not accessible. The parameter is incorrect"

I also tried some other solutions:
-used chkdsk command in cmd but I don't think it progressed since nothing happened after an hour when I press enter
-I also cannot access the Disk Management after a few hours. It got stuck on the "Connecting to Virtual Disk Service"
-I also tried connecting it to a Win 10 HP Laptop (It cannot even detect the drive)
-Tried connecting it to another desktop, I can open the drive and see the VoDs but the computer freezes when I try to open one.
-Also tried changing the connector but I could access another external hard drive using the same connector so I know its not faulty.

Other Information:
Drive appears as Local Disk (I:) for some reason.
Also when Ejecting the device, it has the name "USB to ATA/ATAPI Bridge.
I have a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 as my OS.

I don't care if I loose my data. I just want access on my external again.

Can you list the steps on how to do all the stuff you just said? I'm not very familiar with partitioning hard drives.

:ditto:

I would say that the disk has a died.

You can try what Samuria suggested
Open disk manager (C:\Windows\System32\diskmgmt.msc), go to the external disk, right click and select delete volume. Then create new, select NTFS option.

+1; continue keeping receipts, packaging, return labels, because one never knows when it is simply time to: return it.
