Toshiba external usb 3.0 HD crashing during routine operations

I have four usb 3.0 seagate drives ( 2 2tb, 2 1tb ) and one usb 3.0 toshiba ( 2 tb), all plugged into a usb 3.0 hub, and have also tried plugging the toshiba into a usb 3.0 port on the laptop, with the same results: the toshiba will just not play nicely with the seagates, it is constantly crashing the other drives during any routine operation, copying, moving, backups, etc., and I have checked everything I could possibly check, and installed and uninstalled all kinds of software that gave me no information and showed no errors. I have tried both write cache and quick removal with same exact results, this toshiba for some reason will not perform as it should, I had formatted it before using as I did the other drives. iow it is not being treated any differently than the other external drives and windows does not see it any differently so I am at a total loss and any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I'm assuming the issue is happening under Win 7 pro.
- Open device manager and look for any yellow alert of missing driver.
- Are the disks low formatted as MBR or GPT?
- Did you formatted as NTFS?
- USB 3.0 hub isn't recommended. Put the disk directly to the USB 3.0 port.

yes, NTFS, MBR, and as already stated in my original post, crashes occur during operations whether using a hub or directly in the usb port and yes I have tried all the ports, is there some issue unique to Toshiba?

Hi jggg,
While the Toshiba drive is NOT attached take a look at the Applications and System logs with your Event Viewer and see if any problems are noted.
Have you run diagnostics on Toshiba drive?
Have you contacted Toshiba regarding your issue?
Is your Toshiba drive still under warranty?
If so, I'd send it back to them and request a refund!

You didn't answer about device manager
- Open device manager and look for any yellow alert of missing driver.

Plug it into a USB2 port. It won't be as fast, but it should work.
