Solved How to install Windows 7 on a Surface Pro 1

My Windows 10 boots just fine. Windows 7 doesn't, however, and instead freezes slightly earlier in the animation with UEFISeven. Without it, it gets slightly further into the startup animation and still freezes. Safe Mode stops at disk.sys.

Also tried the debugging option, still doesn't work.
Try using the FlashBootPro EFI files. You can find them in the apps folder in the XP2ESD archive ([TOOL] XP2ESD - Create modern Windows XP installer v1.6.2 | My Digital Life Forums). I also had problems with UEFISeven, where it didn't work at all, but the FlashBootPro EFI files worked without any problem.

So copy the EFI file as bootmgfw.efi and rename original to "bootmgfw.original.efi"?
If you are using FlashBootPro EFI files, then move the BCD file to the root of the partition and delete the EFI folder. Then copy the FlashBootPro EFI folder the the partition and move the BCD back to *boot drive*:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot.

With the Flashboot, the resolution was changed and then froze at boot animation, but this time it showed the Blue Screen of Death for a split second. Couldn't tell what the error code was. Windows 10 will not boot anymore.

Do you have secure boot off?

Yes, my secure boot is off, and I cannot change it until I reset it.

Besides Secure Boot, what other options should I turn off?
It’s fine, it’s good you don’t have it on. Have you integrated NVME and USB 3.0 drivers?

The Surface Pro ISO already has NVME and USB 3.0 drivers, I thought... Do I integrate it again via Integrate7?

It has USB 3.0 drivers but not NVME drivers because it’s made for the Ivy Bridge SP1. Just replace the install.wim in the ISO with a vanilla Windows 7 install.wim. Then integrate the drivers. I guess you can use integrate7, but I personally prefer NTLite. One great source for them is in the XP2ESD pack, it has a lot of drivers. You may also need to integrate graphics drivers, but I doubt it’ll be necessary for 7 to boot.

Is there a download link for just the Windows 7 install.wim, as my computer has only 256 GB SSD, and it is almost full.

Extract the ISO, delete the install.wim from the extracted files, and delete the ISO but not the extracted files. You won't need the ISO anyway.

Is this where you download the XP2ESD drivers?

NTLite closes when processing the ISO.

My installation worked, but the touchpad, external mouse, graphics, and network drivers do not work. NTLite again?

The system boots now, but now there is another problem; drivers. No touchpad, graphics, network, or USB.

Good. Definitely a major improvement. Does the keyboard work? You also need to integrate the USB 3.0 drivers. It should also be in the XP2ESD pack. You can also find USB 3.0 drivers here: USB 3/XHCI driver stack for Windows 7 | My Digital Life Forums. If these don't work, try the Vista drivers: Intel USB3 (XHCI) driver for Windows Vista x86/x64 - Windows Vista - MSFN (the actual download link doesn't work anymore so you have to use the Wayback Machine on archive.org). As far as network drivers, you can try this one: Download Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter drivers for Windows 7 x64 | DriverPack. Otherwise, you're gonna have to use a USB network adapter. Once you get network working, use Snappy Driver Installer to find the rest of your drivers.

Keyboard works just fine. However, the resolution is very wonky, as there is a huge blank space to the right of the screen.

Great! Copy over the driver files onto the hard drive with a Windows 10 PE or setup. Install through Device Manager. Also, send the hardware ID of your graphics card so I can look it up on drp.su.

Graphics ID is PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_15D8&SUBSYS_8706103C&REV_C4.
However, I think the graphics is caused by the FlashBoot.

It's just the touchpad and graphics remaining to fix. My network adapter is working.

Yes, I do think it is caused by the FlashBootPro EFI graphics. Use Snappy Driver Installer to find any missing drivers, which I believe is also in the XP2ESD pack. You can also use the USB 3.0 drivers I sent (It should be in the XP2ESD pack. You can also find USB 3.0 drivers here: USB 3/XHCI driver stack for Windows 7 | My Digital Life Forums. However, I did look up your graphics driver on drp.su, and I was only able to find one that worked for Windows 10: Download AMD RadeonT Vega 3 Graphics drivers for Windows 7 x64 | DriverPack. You can try to get this working via INF modding, or by installing the NTOSKRNL_Emu_Extender (NTOSKRNL Emu_Extender for Windows XP/2003 - Pinned Topics regarding Windows XP - MSFN, Problem with the newer version of Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver on Windows Vista Extended Kernel with NTOSKRNL Emu_Extender - Windows Vista - MSFN) for it to work. You do need to use the tool on Windows 7. Unfortunately I haven't tried this so I don't know if I'll be able to help you, so just read the guide and ask questions here and on that MSFN post if you have any.

So run it on a working VM on my Windows 10 setup?
