Solved How to install Windows 7 on a Surface Pro 1

Can you change the resolution?

Also, it is not 800x600 squished, it is 1260x720 according to Windows, but it doesn't fit the screen and stays to the left. There is a huge black border to the right of the screen.

I saw that in the picture you sent me.

Try this VBEMP driver: VBEMP NT Project - Universal VESA/VBE Video Display Driver, VBEMP for Windows NT (All Versions) : BearWindows and AnaPa Corporation : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive. It says not supported for Vista or 7 but I'd say it's worth giving it a shot. If the latest driver doesn't work, try the below drivers that claim to work up to Windows 7 (the drivers made in 2011-2014).

Also, the black border is caused by the FlashBootPro EFI files, but if you get the graphics drivers working you should be able to fix. There are other methods of installing Windows 7 on UEFI Class 3, but none of them have worked for me. I will list some alternative options, but keep in mind that these methods may not work, so I would back up your Windows 7 installation with a program like Macrium Reflect or be prepared to set the EFI files back to the FlashBootPro EFI files if necessary. These alternative methods shouldn't make the screen resolution weird (I don't think at least, Quibble might however, but still try them). You do not need to reinstall Windows 7 at all, you only need to change the EFI partition. Here are some alternative options:
- MSFN article on native UEFI support apparently added (the site is down as of 6/6/2023 so you will have to wait to read this): Error
- UefiSeven (this also worked for me): Release 1.30 . manatails/uefiseven . GitHub
- Quibble (probably won't work as you don't have CSM): Release Version 20230328 . maharmstone/quibble . GitHub
- Disable vga.sys (didn't work for me either, but this was on my Surface Pro 6): Install Windows 7 at UEFI Graphics Output Protocol (GOP) hardware - Windows 7 - reboot.pro
- Windows 10 bootmgr (again, didn't work for me either, but this was on my Surface Pro 6, but this guy w.keller claims for it to work flawlessly for him every time):

- Normal boot files as you have a graphics driver installed (this worked for me on my Surface Pro 1 once I got drivers working, but in your case since you didn't get the graphics fully working it may not fully work)

UPDATE: I just tried using UEFISeven and it worked fine. Try using that.
