Don't download files like that from the internet and DELETE IT NOW!!! Whatever you downloaded named that could be a fake infected with malware. Perform a full scan of your system immediately with your preferred virus scanner.

That error means whatever program you are running is designed for windows 10 or 11 and you won't be able to run it on 7 because it is looking for something not built in Windows 7. You'll have to either use a different program or an older version of the program designed for Windows 7.

Never ever download DLLs from the internet.

Ok then I don't know of a solution outside of look for an older version of whatever app you're trying to use. Without knowing the app it's hard to help you further. It's gotten to the point that you have to make sure the app is compatible with windows 7.

Starting today, I began receiving an error message shortly after logging into Windows 7:
AcroRd32.exe system error
The program cannot start because api-ms-win-core-winrt-l1-1-0.dll is missing. Try reinstalling this program to fix this problem.

It's weird because my Adobe Acrobat Reader was working fine untill now.

I'm not sure if I'm relieved it's just not my computer or irritated because I've been working for five hours thinking it was a problem with my computer. I also can't open Adobe without the core path DLL message missing, also it had an error message that I don't have Redistributable for Visual Studio2015 but couldn't download it anyway. I've done system restores, system images etc. Just found people having the same problem on the Adobe community, so it seems this problem has arrived care of an update. At least I know it's not my computer, so I guess, hopefully, at some point they will issue an update for our W7 computers.

Update: According to the Adobe community the problem has been identified and they are working on a fix. In the meantime you can view a PDF on your web browser by right clicking on it and selecting open with and your browser.

I have the same problem. It's encouraging to know they are working on a fix. Keep us posted.

I tried to uninstall Adobe and the system hung. I had to shut down and re-start. I am getting that missing dll message now on start-up. How annoying.

My work-around was to right click on a pdf file then choose my browser (Firefox) to view it.

Probably the version of the PDF Reader you're using isnt made for Windows 7. You could try the VxKex compatibility layer and try to run it that way, it usually fixes such DLL errors and incompatibility with newer programs...

Try to delete the Adobe program files or use Revo Uninstaller to safely do so and also delete registry entries from Adobe.

Adobe software is NOTORIOUS for being finicky on Windows 7, even older versions like Reader X.

I am also getting the annoying pop up every morning "pi-ms-win-core-path-l1-1-0.dll missing from your computer". There are people posting fixes but they trigger my anti virus so I've not tried them. Adobe seem to be taking their time in finding a fix. Not sure whether to uninstall Adobe altogether thinking that they will provide a link to install the previous version or wait until they presumably issue an update to roll back the new version that doesn't work to the previous one.

Patience not being a particular virtue, I experimented with a few PDF viewers yesterday as an alternative, none really impressed until I discovered Sumatra PDF. Took less than a minute to download and super quick to open and use. Much quicker than Adobe. I only need it to view PDFs so not sure about any extra functionality. I have had no problems at all with it and at some point I am going to uninstall Adobe altogether.

I found a update from 2-2-2024 and installed it and it fixed the problem. I don't receive the error anymore. How can I post the application for everyone?

Something happened since yesterday - nothing I did deliberately, but I didn't get the pop-up today and the Adobe icon is back on my pdf files.
