Norton Internet Security 2010 for 6 months free

Status
Not open for further replies.
I heard that this version is better/fast than the previous versions.

I still got original box/cd from Norton 2005, and that was my fav of all.

I'll give the 6 months try on my laptop, thanks for the link.

Just some follow up - this is what I meant when I wrote that Norton's SafeWeb is (still) a joke, not protection.

Norton Safe Web, from Symantec - report for best-antispyware-09.com

The link is self-explanatory.

Self-explanatory? I don't get it.

Is best-antispyware-09.com an unsafe site?
Because it is reported as such in FF?

Well, I have news for you. Norton is right and FF is wrong.

The site has been removed a while ago, and the only thing on that server is one page containing the following code:
<html>
<head>
<body>WorkinP</body>
</html>

So this fact actually proves the opposite of what you were trying to prove.:D

note:
The site of my previous employer was repeatedly black listed,
cause some unknown jokers reported it as bad.

My previous employer was a corporate ISP. :D

Squonky, my dear Win 7 bro, be so kind and concentrated and take a good hard look at the address bar when you open that link. It is a direct live link to a rogue antivirus installer, just one level down from the root of that site.

OK? Come back when you do that.

Download that file. Keep it on your disk. In two - three days AutoProtect is gonna zap it. Why? Because I reported it today.

But you see, I shouldn't be the one doing their research. Yet I am, the Good Samaritan that I am.

Oh, btw, I just noticed while I was writing this that Google just found out it is a baddie. I bet it'll be gone (really gone) in under 24 hours, it's of no use if Google gets it. But if it was up to Symantec, well, they would get 2-4 days of good use out of that site..not just a couple of hours.

You are right, but no need to be patronizing bro. :sarc:

I am human and prone to mistakes, but I'm not an idiot.

What happened was that only the first part of the site was visible,
due to my small laptop screen.
This was what I saw: http://best-antispyware-09.com/download/

I drag selected and copied the link and like I said I got an empty page.

After this post, I went back and saw that the link actually was:
http://best-antispyware-09.com/download/Soft_71.exe

That's the only reason for the misunderstanding.

ps. The site is already gone.

Were it free for life, I would burden no computer of mine with Norton, or any Symantec product (except their standalone infection removal tools :) ), just as I would not put a heavy load on the back of a small child.

Comodo firewall and Avast or Antivir plus any 2 of Malwarebytes/Spybot S&D/Adaware/SuperAntiSpywareDoctor gives better protection, lighter footprint - and is free.

Norton's firewall is full of holes.

You obviously have not tried Norton 2010 products nor have you seen the reviews and test benchmarks that their products have gotten lately...

Maybe you should try them out before bashing them...

Lighter footprint?
COMODO FIREWALL: 11MB
Avast: 60MB (Web shield enabled)
Antivir: 11MB
--------------
Norton internet security 2010: 3MB
Norton 360 V4: 5.5MB
Norton Antivirus: 3.1MB

You defintally dont know what "Lighter footprint" means

And Norton and COMODO both have great firewalls! Neither have any holes (All Firewalls have holes, but neither have lots)

Hi hackerman,
Seeing that "Windows Live OneCare 2.5.2900.24" got a 4% score, I'm sure that "Windows Firewall" is NO better. And I have used "Windows firewall" for 3 years without any hacker hacking into my PC. Theses "results" prove NOTHING. Just because your product dident do so well, doesnt mean that it doesnt protect you. Look at ESET, 4% again! And ESET has a pretty well firewall, ive used ESET Smart security since V2 on 6 computers but now stopped after it dident stop some trojans. None of thoes computer had any problems, outside of the trojans the antivirus missed.

Yup.

NIS is one of the lightest IS suites around.

EDIT: I mean, it's not ~3MB light, but according to recent tests, it's around ~12MB's most of the time.

EDIT 2: Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 is also pretty light on resources:
