My setting are 5-6-6-18 Volt:2.1 but where else could I see results from my rams?

Honestly, I am having a similar problem. when I up the Voltage in my BIOS, it registers lower than default for some reason and I end up going back to default. I dunno, but I am anxious to see what others have to say.

Good Luck!

Wouldn't that'll be shown in the Bios? I mean like, when I fail to OC my CPU, it's back to the default settings but my rams setting are still the same there.

No, the Overclock stays as far as FSB and RAM timings. My default voltage for the CPU Core is 1.21, When I change it to 1.225 its only @ 1.176 and fluctuates down to 1.66 at times, so I manually turn it back to default. However if I drop my Ram timings below 5-5-5-15 it will override the Bus overclock yet keep the ram timings. Quite strange. FYI, I do have the most current version of my bios.

naw... not really! i've seen some scores on the previous pages that really made me blush... over 23,000! but, from what i've seen, those high scores are from people who have ddr3 memory. on the ddr2 front, i've seen some scores 18k, upwards to 20k.

i'm comfortable with mine. :)

Not really, thats because MPCRSC562 is running an AMD system.

im not going to explain why again, but i7 systems will score higher than AMD as i7 gets average 17k-24k+mb/s, AMD systems get around 8k-17k+mb/s and intel core systems and early AMD systems (w/out a memory controller) will get anywhere from 0-10k+mb/s

if you read through this thread it will explain why there is such a huge variation between AMD and Intel new and old CPU's.

Here's mine. I'm assuming it is okay?

bit low for an i7 from what i have read here, but i suppose that is because of your 1333 ram. if you went to 1600 you would see a bit of a jump. Still an i7 system is always great none the less. ;)

hang on how much ram and what ram stick configuration are you running? in your specs you state 2x4gb?? so you have x4 2gb sticks???

Hi Bloke and thanks.

Yes, I'm running 4 x 2GB sticks.

I hope the attached images might help.

It's a new system I've just had custom built for me and the only change I made when I picked it up a few days ago with regard to the RAM settings was I went into the BIOS settings and changed it from 1066 to 1333???

I hope I did the right thing Bloke. I'm not really sure if my MB supports 1600? Maybe you might be kind enough to enlighten me.

Your ram (according to CPU-z) is at its rated 1333mhz, so thats all good and its at 1T which is a bonus for you.

ok can you take out 1 stick of ram and make sure they are in the correct slots (should be like this: empty,stick,empty,stick,empty,stick--stick meaning a ram module installed or it can be stick, empty, stick, empty, stick, empty) the i7 utilises triple channel memory modules which run at a faster rate opposed to dual channel earlier systems which were 128bit (i think). now i know cpu-z states its in tri-channel, but if your running 4 sticks then it may technically be loosing performance (as you have 3 sticks in tri channel and 1 stick on its own).

if you can try that setup, then re-run the memory assessment and post it up to see, if there is no difference then just put it back. but i would be interested to see if it makes a difference.

Also does your bios have a couple settings called 'P1' and 'P2' (should be somewhere in the memory or FSB settings area). if it does, set them both to 'enabled' (not auto!) as these settings also play a big role in the performance of the ram.

let me know how you go. :D

Rick.

Wow, mpcrsc562 puts us to shame with his memory.

naw... not really! i've seen some scores on the previous pages that really made me blush... over 23,000! but, from what i've seen, those high scores are from people who have ddr3 memory. on the ddr2 front, i've seen some scores 18k, upwards to 20k.

i'm comfortable with mine. :)

Wow, mpcrsc562 puts us to shame with his memory.

P.S. I live in Long Beach too.

Not really, thats because MPCRSC562 is running an AMD system.

im not going to explain why again, but i7 systems will score higher than AMD as i7 gets average 17k-24k+mb/s, AMD systems get around 8k-17k+mb/s and intel core systems and early AMD systems (w/out a memory controller) will get anywhere from 0-10k+mb/s

if you read through this thread it will explain why there is such a huge variation between AMD and Intel new and old CPU's.

wow! you didn't have to bust me out like that  j/k.
i already addressed that mine wasn't no big deal...
it's ok though. :D

lol sorry bout that, i can sometime jump the gun a bit. maybe im just another jealous intel fan;). lmao no harm intended.

Oh no Rick ... don't tell me I have to open up my new case for the first time LOL!!!

Before I attempt to reconfigure any of the RAM, are these pics of any assistance to you?

I'll get back to you shortly with regard to the 'P1' and 'P2' question.

Neil

oh you haven't opened it yet? gosh, im the type of person that likes to open things up just for the heck of it.lol.

it seems its probably the early i7 board (strange how it only supports 4 slots) i would guess the 3 white slots are the only triple channel slots and the blue one is some sort of extra slot??
In that case, i would suggest trying the re-run after removing the ram out of the blue slot.

see if you can find those settings in the bios first, and if you feel game to opening that side cover, give it a shot (but if it voids any warranty then just leave it-like if the maker puts the sticker over the edge of the cover so it breaks when its been opened). but if you do decide to open the case AND your bios has those settings, do one at a time, to see if the ram stick setup makes a difference if you get what i mean.

Okay Rick, before I check the 'P's, I've just downloaded my MB manual and here are the details you mentioned. So do you really think I should remove one of the four sticks?

Neil

well it does not state what happens if you utilise the tri channel AND also add the extra stick into that ddr3-3 socket. but the only time it says to use that blue 3 socket is only if you are using 4 sticks. i would still give it a go, like i said if the performance drops or is no different, simply re-install the stick (just make sure you try to install it in the right way, just compare it to the others around it)
