Okay I have been reading through these forums quite a bit as of lately trying to figure out why i cant get my driver to work. I have followed all of the steps from the topic created by itsame66 and it hasn't helped at all.

When i tried installing the driver at first i looked at it under custom, and the actual driver was greyed out and it would only install ccc and the install manager. I added the line into the .inf from the hot fix and i get a device exclamation error. Also, when I tried to manually update the driver by directing it to the folder it changes the driver to a visiontek 2600xt. When I reboot i get an ati failed to launch the driver error. I'm seriously at a loss can someone please help me.

There are basically only two possible reasons for your problem.

The first is that you are doing something slightly wrong. Maybe you aren't choosing the exact .inf that you edited, as opposed to only the folder?

Or your chipset or driver for it is interfering in success. Less likely.

Are you sure you're adding the correct line for your card's hardware id? You can check which 4 digit hardware id your card is in device manager | right click video card, choose properties | details tab | change property dropdown box to next one, hardware ids. The value is to the right of dev_.

This computer will become a good second computer until the time comes to buy a new computer.
I tried using vista drivers but it gave me an error that it wasn't compatible with the current operating system.

I'll tell you precisely where I added the line, maybe it could clear some things up a bit.

I extracted the hotfix like you instructed, then I opened up the C:\ATI\Support\Packages folder and edited the CL7 .inf file and added the following

"ATI Radeon 3650....._9596 (or whichever one you gave to the guy before, it was the same card and I checked my hardware id and it was in fact the same as well. that didn't work but when I did the device manager > manual update > have disk and directed it to the CL inf after it added the ATI Radeon 3650 but said it was an unsigned driver and didnt work after restart.

I also tried adding the same exact line but replacing the ATI with Sapphire which also added it to the driver list (with the same results of being unsigned and i get a code 43 error at startup under the device properties)

Everytime I reboot I get the ATI has had a problem with the current driver. Ati driver is not installed . (or something along those lines...im at school atm so I can't type the exact phrase)

maybe that could help you with the troubleshooting a little bit.

I just find it odd that it reverted to the 2600xt to begin with, not to mention the fact that the fixes you had everyone else try didnt work for me.

That method should work with the hotfix driver but it also works well for the normal non-hotfix Catalyst driver too, even though the card is AGP. I don't use hotfixes any longer as they haven't been necessary for many months.

The only thing I can think of is that you're using the wrong .inf in either the wrong folder or right one. (Or again, could be chipset but I'd try this first.)

Download the normal Catalyst 9.9 32 bit for Win7 and extract it to C:\ATI.

Here is the .inf you should use. Download it and copy/paste it directly over the existing one in C:\ATI\Support\9-9_vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Driver\Packages\Drivers\Display\W7_INF

RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

Now install using device manager the same as you did before.

Here is a link mirror in case the first one is downloaded too much and can not be downloaded any longer -

wow, i dunno what the problem was exactly but adding that specific file seemed to have done it.

i reformatted my pc and rather than partitioning it for ubuntu build I let it install to the whole drive (i reformatted bc i figured i had installed too many drivers and they would conflict) I installed the windows 7 driver for the 3600 pci driver (as the agp isnt covered under the driver) then the hotfix. I then pointed my manual update to the entire support folder and subfolders then I let it choose from compatible, and lo and behold, the ati 3600 driver was there and digitally signed

thank you so much, you do have to teach me how you figured out editing the .inf would fix the problem to behind with!

thanks again torrentg you did it again man

Very glad it worked!

There's really nothing much about how I figured this out. My card wouldn't install correct when I purchased it, using the latest Catalyst at the time instead of the driver on cd.

By instict, I went into the extracted folder and found the .inf and had a look. It was immediately apparent to me that my card was not listed and that's why the problem existed.

Knowing about Windows, I knew where to find the hardware id for my card. I copied and pasted a line and changed the info to suit my card. And it worked so I help others do the same. :D

Here is picture:

Yes. You are doing something slightly wrong. Here it is:

In device manager, right click standard vga graphics adapter. Update driver. Browse. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse. Find the .inf now. If it says the driver is not signed or complains, tell it to install anyway.

Run setup.exe after a reboot if you want CCC installed.

Hi. Please see this thread to get your AGP card running WDDM 1.1 Windows 7 driver model. If you run into any problems or difficulties, please post there about it.

Hi Torrentg,

I discovered the threat just 1 minute after posting here :) I have downloaded everything and will try this afternoon.

BTW, I know is not part of this forum, but is there a similar solution to make the card use the original drivers from Catalyst and not the hotfixes?

Many thanks,
daedel.

The link in my previous post uses the latest normal Catalyst driver and not any hotfix.

Hi there,

I've got your driver installed after the patch but i'm having some issues with choppy viedo and gaming, but only when in full screen?? Re-installed the driver 2-3 times now and got the latest drivers for d2410. Tried viedo and games on lower res and different hertz and still no difference?? any idea if this is a driver issue?

Cheers

I'll need to know system specs to make suggestions. So it will be helpful if you fill that in to your profile.

Also, do you have any exclamation points in the device manager?

One further thing you can do is type system information in the start menu search box. Hit enter, then ctrl+s on the window that opens. Compress the saved file to .rar or .zip and then attach to a post.
