Black screen on start up just before welcome screen

I have reinstalled 7 64bit on my pc but now it has a black screen on start up just before welcome screen for about 5-10 secs is there a way to stop this and fix it as it never used to do this?

This screen is a normal boot up screen. Its while it is loading the welcome screen. You may have just not noticed it before.

It could be but im sure it never took 5 secs for it to load and i was reading some people have noticed 64bit do that to

Mine does it with ext. HDD plugged in. It seems X64 has some issues with ext. HDDs.
