Hello all Im new here:)

I really need urgent help with my Realtek soundcard.

My sound is completely off, I cannot find Realtek soundcard in Device manager (not listed), Add New Hardware scan does nothing. I know that it is possibble to disable the soudncard in BIOS but I've searched through BIOS and couldn't find any option with "Sound" or something similar to it.

I've downloaded the drivers for Win 7 installed them but nothing happens when I restart.

I have attached a screenshot from the Everest of my devices or you can slick the link below to see it.

Does anyone know what the option would be in BIOS to enable/disable the onboard soundcard?

Or is there something else?

Thanks much!

Hi and welcome

To verify they are installed and working type device manager in search. go to the sound tab and see if your chipset is listed and if it has a yellow trianle on it. If it isnt listed or has a yellow triangle on it it needs to be reinstalled. also look for any "unknown" devices with yellow as they will need drivers as wekk

Hi zigzag3143 thanks for the quick reply,

The thing is I don't have a Sound tab in Device Manager?! and therefore no yellow triangle :(

Also, when I put my mouse cursor over the volume button in the right corner it says "No Audio Output Device is installed".

Hi walsh, and welcome to Windows 7 Forums

According to the Gigabyte page for your motherboard GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Overview - GA-EP31-DS3L (rev. 2.0), you have Intel High Definition Audio. However, just to confuse things, the drivers page list it as Realtek and the specification page specifically as Realtek ALC888.

Given that, I recommend that you download the driver here: Realtek

Use the method that I describe in this Tutorial to install it: Device Manager - Install Driver - Vista Forums

Just noticed that you don't have a sound tab in device manager. Here is a link to the manual: http://europe.giga-byte.com/FileList/Manual/motherboard_manual_ga-ep31-ds3l_2.0_e.pdf
Chapter 2 refers to the BIOS setup (page 31) and section 2.5 Integrated Peripherals (page 39) is the specific area you are looking for. Check that the option Azalia Codec is set to Auto as shown.

Thanks alot for the reply but I can't use your walkthrough because I don't have the sound tab in device manager and cannot see my realtek soundcard.
