Hi,
I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 that i just purchased a couple weeks ago. Every few days I keep getting the blue screen that warns me it's about to shut down to prevent damage to my computer or something...i can never read the entire message, it comes and goes so fast.
When I turn the computer back on, I keep getting various messages. Mostly that windows explorer has stopped working, MOM.exe application error, Microsoft.NET app error, my virus protection app error, so on and so on. These messages all pop up around the sametime. Some are even file corruption messages. Once i'm able to run a disk scan all that goes away....for a few days and then it starts over again.

Can anyone help me stop this maddness!...lol! I would really appreciate it.

Hi autumn and welcome

First thing you can do a safe boot (F8 on start up). When there you should type eventvwr in search. There is a lot of data here. You are going to be looking for errors (they have a red 'x' in the left hand column) that are related to the problem. It may say something lik app hang, app crash, or anything with IE. when you find them, can you use the built in snipping tool (type snipping in search) to make a screen shot of the errors. then using the attachment icon (shaped like a paperclip) in the reply form to upload them to us

See pics

\I know this is alot of work but witht the info we can tell you what it is and how to fix it.

In the mean time. you should run something called a system file check. that verifies your system files and repairs them. to do that you type cmd in search then right click and run as admin> type SFC /SCANNOW and let us know the results

Hope This helps and let us know if you need help

I'd clean reinstall with a clean copy WIn7 DVD. MS forced manufacturers to provide this with Upgrade Kits, but I'm wondering if they must provide them on Win7 computers.

Toshiba refused to provide them with Vista, saying the wouldn't tech support unless we keep their bloatware installation, which is corrupted even if you take the bloatware off.

I clean resintalled anyway as I have the Vista all-versions DVD which activated fine off OEM license on mobo, getting needed drivers and apps from Toshiba Support Downloads page and elsewhere on web.

There is no comparision with a clean reinstall, like a new computer except no bloatware. Most tech enthusiasts won't settle for less, so if you want the cleanest install become a tech enthusiast and learn how to get clean!
