I don't know if anyone got this, first time i went using W7, i was using the Regseeker for, problems fix, but then, suddently the computer went slow, a lot of crashes.. and stuff like, WMP problems, Firefox closing itself...

Solution for me? Formating, installing all over again...
Not knowing that the culprit was the Regseeker, i was using it again... And again glitches... So i did a repair install and all started working again...

Not i've left RegSeeker, i'm using tune-up utilities 2010 and works like charm, everything is now ok..

So, my recomendation?

Stay Away From REGSEEKER

i hope that this is usefull for preventing bugs.

I recommend staying away from all reg cleaner/optimizers unless you know what your doing. They usually do more harm than good.

OUCH! That's why one should stay away or backup before cleaning the registry as it can mess up the system because sometimes it deletes valid and important keys which can make the OS unstable or leaving it in a corrupt state.

Regseeker is only for very advanced users.

I use it myself, but you need to go over every entry.

If this just occurred, look in the backup folder and double-click on the first .reg file.

Which for me is like using nothing. It has never been able to clean/delete keys of services of any uninstalled software that used that part of the registry. But, to be fair, I haven't found a cleaner yet that can do this. I've always done it manually after an uninstall by gaining permission then deleting. I do agree with staying away from cleaners unless you know what your doing or have some type of rollback software installed such as Eaz-Fix.

Please don't find out the hard way what Win7 beta testers have come to learn over the past year:

Windows 7 needs no optimizing or tweaking whatsoever, just normal settings choices.

It is perfectly engineered and learned well all of the lessons of the Vista debacle.

No offense, but I have to disagree there.

When you install programs an d decide you don't like it, the Uninstaller does a bad job at removing registry entries.

I can almost guarantee you, that if you open Regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE you will find entries there that were not removed.

Not cleaning the registry is like not cleaning out your temp files or running CCleaner

I agree with doing this. I do this myself.

Have never considered it a tweak or Registry cleaner, though, just knowing where to find the debris of an uninstall (2nd and 3rd Registry Hives: Software keys),

just as I always check the Programs File for leftovers.

But I would never let a Reg Cleaner or Optimizer (besides CCleaner - which only removes empty shells) anywhere near Registry or Windows 7.

Really its perfectly engineered... why does it already have security patches. Lets not get to excited its still a good OS just don't mark it perfect because it's not.

What do security patches have to do with the OS engineering?

That's like dinging Mercedes because it needs a car alarm.

I followed the engineering closely (on developers' blog) and what I saw was never settling for less than perfect.

the general scan in regseeker is no good, but where this program is very good is serching for left overs after using revo or ccleaner searching for specific program related entries.

YOU STILL NEED TO CHECK EACH ENTRY BEFORE DELETING.

I use a program called Glary Utilities, it's completely free and has a registry cleaner that works fine. I check the registry entries before I hit "Fix" and I've never see anything that wasn't for shortcuts of uninstalled programs or to a "missing file or folder"

Yeah but tune-up been working very well, fixes most of things, without causing any trouble

What on EARTH do you need to "Tune Up" in W7.

I very much doubt there's much you could usefully do INTERNALLY to make W7 perform better than it does already.

External factors like more RAM and above all FASTER and MORE disk drives will speed up even the most sluggish of systems.

If you are a gamer then a proper fast VIDEO card with a decent GPU will also pay dividends - not much point for "Normal users" as even basic video cards integrated with a MOBO are pretty good now.

STAY WELL AWAY from any of these products that offer to scan / fix the Registry -- you are really giving away "The keys to the kingdom" if you let "3rd parties" in here.

If the Registry needs fixing a new install is the best option -- W7 can install in around 15 mins if you do it from a USB drive -- forget the hour or more required by some previous versions of Windows on older hardware.

If you also image your system before installing any major piece of software you can restore it again if you need to get rid of the software. Only takes 15 - 20 mins to restore a W7 partition image.

In a professional environment you can deploy W7 images very fast if you need to repair a whole slew of PC's. It's a lot quicker in any case than scanning for 1000's of errors with dubious utilities.

There's a whole host of MS stuff available for a "Pre installation Environment" where you can use un-attended installs.

Again NEVER USE THESE TYPE OF PRODUCTS.

Cheers
jimbo

You don't use RegSeeker, unless you';re a very experienced person who has dealt with the registry, It's a dangerous tool as you;vr found out.

Try a regular registry cleaning program if you Harv to. Regseeker i not that type of program.

You also never answered my question n about the backup, did it work?

BTW, it doesn't have anything to do with Windows 7 being at fault as I've run it in Vista with the same results, 1,00's of hits.
