uninstall GFWL, but not the game. then run the game, and open the multiplayer. It will ask you to install GFWL, and follow its instructions. Then check if it works ;D

When I uninstall GfWL I cannot even run the game because it says xlive.dll is missing. After installing XLive from the game disc it's the same situation as always.

Do you have any programs you did not have installed on xp installed on your windows 7 machine?

I already investigated that and came up with nothing, I have the same software as on XP. I even tried uninstalling majority of the software, even AntiVirus [thus compromising my computer] but still nothing positive happened.

Two. One integrated [nForce] and a Realtek one. I already tried plugging the cable into the the other one [I have it in Realtek normally] and nothing changed.
Btw, the MAC that event viewer gets is non-existent, there is no card with MAC 00:B0:21:55:CF:05 in my system :O
I'll try getting the Realtek card out of the mainboard manually and will report back.

I found a solution to it. When you sign into live in the game you need to uncheck the "save email address" check boxes. I also deleted my IE cache too which may have helped as well.

Now I can sign in and play the game fine.

I am having the exact same problem with Windows 7 64-bit. Your solution QuackPot didnt do anything for me. When Im in Gears of War, my Windows Live ID doesnt sign in, but on the Windows Live site, it works perfectly fine.

It's not the problem with the password, it's clearly Win7s problem. I can login normally and play without any issues when I boot to XP. Something in Win7 is stopping GoW from reaching internet and I don't know what exactly [firewall is off, upnp is on, network discovery is on].

i can tell you that the problem is not with windows 7 - i am running gears of war on windows 7 with no issues at all & windows 7 is not stopping games for windows live from connecting to the internet as i have 4 or 5 live enabled games (gta4/resident evil 5 etc) & never have any issue sighning in to games for windows live (online) - try uninstalling games for windows live & re-installing it - maybe the install got screwed up - but its not windows 7 that is your issue - also when you say all the ports are open have you assighned these ports to the actual ip address of your pc ? - just opening the ports wont cut it they need to be direced to the actual pc - so first set up a static ip for your pc then assighn the ports to the static ip you have created for it

Unfortunately, that did not work for me. Thanks for trying:)

i can tell you that is definately not windows 7s problem - i am running gears on windows 7 & have never had any issues with it :D

Just because YOU don't have any issues does not mean it's not W7's fault, stop being self-centric.

Problem WAS with Windows 7. I did a clean install of W7, installed all the apps I used before and Gears of War has no problems connecting to Live. Problem is I still don't know what was wrong :/ Thanks for tips about re-installing GfWL software and tutorial (sic!) for port forwarding but that was covered pages ago.

As I tried virtually anything to solve this problem and couldn't solve it, I'm affraid I can't help you SRLeMere. My 'solution' which was just brute force really, was doing a clean install of Windows 7. Still, it would be nice to know what was wrong...
