Do you have the right drivers installed or just the Windows one?

my mouse goes off the screen and selects other stuff on its own and my remote settings are all disabled. my mouse also freezes way too much and the only thing i can do is figure out the equal keyboard strokes or else reboot. i reinstalled my system like over 5 times this year. i might go back to xp! Windows 7 have a lot of cool features but only at the price of loosing your peace of mind

:) O.K. so here's what i did:

Steps:
1. Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Mouse (under Devices and Printers)
2. Buttons Tab: speed was set 1 point beyond halfway so i moved it backward to halfway (default setting may have been too fast)
3. Looked at Pointer's Tab but didn't touch anything
4. Pointer's Options Tab: Set Pointer Speed (in Motion box) is set at halfway and Enhance pointer precision box is checked; Hide pointer while typing (in Visibility box) is checked; nothing else was set or checked. Clicked Apply to Finish and closed out.

After this i continued to have a similar experience, so i went back to Step 1. above and continued with the following Steps:

5. Wheel Tab: Roll the wheel one notch to scroll: The following number of lines at a time: is set to 1 (in the Vertical scrolling box); likewise, Tilt the wheel to scroll the following number of characters at a time: is set to 1. Clicked Apply to Finish and closed out.

Problem seems to have disappeared so i think it was the Wheel Tab settings making my mouse hyper :geek: Hope this helps somebody!

Windows 7 Mouse freeze

Here's a fun one! My mouse freezes too, except all I have to do is hit ANY key on the keyboard and my mouse immediately comes back to life. Anyone tried this experiment?

Both my mouse and keyboard are USB non-wireless. I'm wondering if the use of the keyboard USB port is "waking up" my mouse USB port after it "goes to sleep." I have disabled USB Sleep power options and such. mouhid.sys driver is dated 2006. The only person who's solved this problem somehow got a new mouse that loaded a 2009 HID driver for their mouse. Not surprisingly, it was with a MICROSOFT mouse. I haven't been able to get my Logetch(s) to load a newer driver.

I've tried ALL of the other things suggested (silly or not) in every mouse freeze thread on this forum and other forums. I've tried different mice, and verified my mice and USB ports on other operating systems.

Microsoft has had their plentiful share of oopsies, but this one is just embarrassing. Even windows 3.1 could move a mouse cursor :-P Think they will address this in a KB fix or something?

Hey guys, I have a similar problem to NyCee. It seems as though if I have multiple windows open my PC starts lagging and freezing up temporarily, and as a result either my mouse and/or keyboard will freeze and I'll hear a beep or my PC will freeze.

I have both a PS2 and USB mouse, still the problem exists but slighly different, on my USB mouse the power seems to flicker on and off and then freeze and with the PS2 it just freezes all together.

I've been told maybe it's my drivers but I'm not too familar with the steps involved in correcting that, so if anyone knows/thinks otherwise or is willing to talk me through it, it'd be very much appreciated.

keyboard and mouse lag

I recently started experiencing serious lag when typing and scrolling with the mouse. Have run CCleaner, AVG, Spybot to no avail. Sometimes closing my browser and reopening it solves the problem temporarily, and it is intermittent anyway. Nothing untoward in task manager either. Any suggestions? Driving me nuts!

Interresting thread I'm having kind of the same problem with my Razer Lachesis mouse that has worked flawlessly before, once I ran Mafia 2 I started to notice that my aim was a bit laggy. Quit the game and changed to another mouse (a default 2-button layout one) and then it doesn't lag in the game.

Some may say that it is my razer mouse that is faulty but I tried the mouse again but I uninstalled the drivers for the razerware or what ever you want to call it and now the mouse-pointer works like a charm but (always another but) now when I open folders or any windows on my computer the fade in-/out effect fades in and out very slowly which kinda comes up as odd to me. Any ideas on this?

Feels kinda crap that windows performance is to suffer just because I don't have the drivers from the mouse manufacturer installed, but the mouse pointer works like I want it to. Does this make any sense?
