I do not have Accessories thing in my start menu, anyone know how I can get it back?

I have tried copying the folder over from another computer but it says something about merging and even after merging there is nothing there. I managed to copy the accessories folder from this computer to the start menu before but it opened like a normal folder and didnt expand, and it didn't contain paint, defrag, etc.

I don't know what to do. Please help.

Also, whenever I click on documents, then libraries on the left, it expands to show

documents
pictures
music
video

But when I click on the actual libraries icon, it is all empty on the right hand side and I am sure there was stufff there before. You see, before this, nothing at all turned up when I clicked on libraries, there wasnt even anything when I expanded, but I managed to get the 4 things listed above to show up when I expanded the libraries folder. But I want it like it was before

I would GREATLY appreciate your help.

Accessories is missing from the "All Programs". All my programs, etc are fine. Its just that Accessories folder is missing. I have tried transferring it from my other computer which also has Win7 but it doesn't include everyhing.

I now have to do a search to find disk clean-up and paint, etc.

Could you please help me get the whole thing back?

My friend richc46 has found this article: Steps to Restore the Missing Accessories from Start Menu - Tech Salsa. Hopefully that will solve your problem.

Thanks, Richard.

I have tried using this programme before but as it is created for Windows xp, it doesn't work in Win7

It says "To use with WinXP only" and it comes up with an error!

If you think you may have lost the default library settings maybe use this great tutorial by Brink Libraries - Restore Default

Go the the directory C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\. Is there a folder called Programs?

I am working from Vista now, so the directory could be wrong.

dunno about that as the path for me in windows 7 its
  • C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories
    or C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
and Accessories is in there .........

I reckon you could try running sfc /scannow to repair the .dll library and if that doesnt work then a system restore as suggested by "Jonathan_King" may be the only way

woah woah, that all sounds really complicated lol

I have managed to fix it, but thanks for ur help, much appreciated.

I even made a tutorial in tutorials section to help others with the same or similar problems but whenever I search for it, it says

you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

  1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
Google search "restore expandable accessories" and it comes up, can you access it, or has my tutorial just been scrapped?

To fix the libraries problem I followed the tutorial link someone posted here on this thread.

As for the Accessories folder under All Programs, I had Autoclick installed, and during installation of this program, it made an expandable folder under All programs, so I right-clicked on autoclick under All Programs (without expanding), then the folder opens and delete whatever is in there, in my case it was autoclick and an uninstall autoclick thing. After deleting them, I copied the accessories folder from

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories

Then it started asking me something about mergine, etc, I just mucked around a bit and changed the name of the folder to Accessories1 (Can't remember whether it was in All Programs or windows explorer.

But it's working just as it was before.

Then I uninstalled Autoclick by going to uninstall a program.

All sorted! :-)

I even made a tutorial in the tutorial section, I called it
Restore Expandable Accessories Folder in All Programs

If you google it, it comes up but I can't click on it for some reason, maybe because it wasn't as sophisticated and professional as all the other tutorials made by others.

Oh well, I was only trying to help others.

This issue should be caused by folder missing.

You can check it under:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\

Right click on Programs folder and choose properties, click Previous Versions.

Please check if other version includes Accessories folder.

If the issue still persists, you can copy C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories folder from another computer to problem computer.

Hope it helps.:D
