how do I uninstall/reinstall win7 games?

I have a DellStudio 15 laptop that pixalates the display only when I try to play any of the games that come with win7. There are no other games installed. When ut occurs, it affects any and all other programs until I reboot. If I do not try to play any of the games, I have no problems. Dell has replaced the motherboard, dispaly, and cable without correcting the problem. So, how do I completely remove the games that come with win7? I want to install them after copying them from ymother win7 computer that does not have the problem. How would I go about doing that? Thanks.

Hi Mark,

Computer manufacturers like Dell often preinstall their own games alongside Windows 7's included games, so there could be a number of culprits here. Have you tried every game that came with the computer, and they all cause this problem? When Dell replaced the display and motherboard did they reinstall Windows 7? What do you mean when you say they replaced the 'cable'?

You can delete the games individually by going to C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (x86) and locating their folders (many will be in 'Microsoft Games'). On my HP, many games are located in C:\Program Files (x86)\HP Games so perhaps look for a similar folder for Dell Games.

Thanks for the reply. This was a vista laptop that I upgraded to win7. It's whatever games comes with win7, minesweeper, hearts, chess titans, purble place, etc. These are the only games installed. This problem was happening before I upgraded to win7. I updated the video driver to the latest one on Dells webpage. Upgrading to win7 was Dell tech support's suggestion. When that didn't work, they came out and replaced the mb and display. Still had the same problem when the tech was there, but he said he had no idea what was causing it.

Win7 was not reinstalled when the motherboard was replaced. I "assume" the cable is the one that connects the display to the motherboard.

I found the games where you said they'd be and deleted them. I tried to install the same games from my win7 computer, but they will not work since my computer is 64 bit and the laptop is a 32 bit computer.

Here is what the computer does. Notice the small horizontal black lines. Notice also the horizontal lines through the title bar. It is a picture of the game screen that I pasted into Word.

This is the desktop when it occurs. It's supposed to be a picture of our 3 dogs. It is a photograph of the desktop showing how corrupt it looks.

When this happens, the title bar of any program I open has lines through it making it hard to read the name andd the min, max, and x. It will do this on every program until I reboot. As long as I do not try playing any games, the problem does not happen.

Or you could uninstall them rather than just delete the files too:

Control Panel > Programs & Features > (Click "Turn Windows features On or Off on left)
Uncheck Games & Press Ok

This will uninstall & Delete the games that are installed with Win7 only

Looks like you have a graphics driver issue ..
Have you tried letting Win7 install default drivers? or getting Win7 ones from manufacturer?

Yes, tried them both. Also had Dell tech support take remote control of my laptop, and they updated to the same driver as I did. They them dispatched the tech to replace the parts.

Hi Mark,

Those screenshots definitely look like a driver issue. Do you know if the upgrade from Vista was In-Place or Custom? It doesn't sound like you've performed a Custom ("clean") install at any point yet, and since you said this was happening in Vista as well, the same issue probably carried over. I'd recommend performing a Clean Install, as tutorialized here. It's somewhat of a process, but it's been known to solve many common issues and it will smooth out your overall system performance. Just make sure to back up all your data first! Let us know how it goes, if you decide to do it.

Walker, I did not do a clean install or a custom install, just the standard upgrade to win7. This condition was there in vista only occurs when I open one of these games. Why would only the games cause it? No other program does it. Any other suggestions other than a clean install?

it sounds like your display when switching to a game switches to a different resolution, and when you stop the game, it dont switch back all the way. try switching resolutions, does it still happen? also, just a question? do you use aol software?>
