Question about my WD external HDD and W7 backup

Yes, they are for when nothing else works, but if you don't have the majority of your data files on the C drive, you can reinstall windows without much data lose. I also have an external backup in case my hard drive dies or a virus I can't remove causes havoc to more than just windows. This is a way to 1). Keep your files a little safer. 2). Be much less of a burden if you need to re-install windows as you won't have to copy all that stuff back to your harddrive. The way you've done it works and if you don't want to bother, that's fine.

I have my program and video files all on my external HDD instead of my C drive. Most of my pictures and music, however, is on my C drive. Judging from the information I gave you, can you confirm at EVERYTHING in my C:/Users/David is included in my backup? Thank you for all your help.

I have my HD set up with 3 partitions:
C: System and Programs
D: pagefile
E: data

I wanted to use the Win 7 System Image for the C: only and other backup system for E:. I found that if I use Win 7 to do a system image for the C: partition only, when you restore it will erase the ENTIRE disk and then restore C: partition. I now use Macrium which will let me just restore the C: partition and leave the E: intact and it is free.

I have a WD Passport external drive to hold the image file and it came with a Sync program (WDSync) which I use to backup any files or directories I chose. If I make any changes it will Sync the backup files. What I like is I can setup a profile for my desktop and it stores the backup in a data base and I can make another profile for my laptop and it keeps it in a separate database. I can open a database and see all the files and can copy any or all anywhere I want including a new hard drive or computer.

Everything should be in there based on backup + system image.
