I have Windows XP 32-bit and I want to perform clean install of Windows 7 64-bit. I have one hard drive with two partitions. If I install Windows 7 64-bit on one, am I going to lose data from another partition? Will changing from 32-bit OS to 64-bit OS affect on some files (Am I going to be able to open all my files, without any errors)?

Any help will be appreciated!!! :D

if you install the 64bit version, you will need to get the 64bit drivers for all of your devices... you will also need to reinstall your programs... Hope this helps... ;)

you will need to download them from the devices respective home page.. Windows 7 will have most of the needed drivers, but there may be a few that you will need to supply...

I downloaded Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and checked compatibility with Windows 7 64-bit version and everything passed the test(everything has green colour). Does that mean that all of my drivers are 64-bit compatible?

Your system specs shows a Pentium machine with 2 gigs of RAM. With those specs it would be better to install a 32-bit Seven.

I just clicked My System Specs link in your post. System specs exists precisely for this reason: it's easier to assist in hardware related questions and issues when we know what kind of hardware you have.

Do you have two partitions for one OS? Meaning are you installing os on one and have saved data on the other? And you are concerned that you will lose the data in the second partition. As long as you do not format the wrong partition you will not.

No, it means you can run a 64 bit OS on your system . Drivers are more or less an
afterthought with the most important being your ethernet driver. If you can`t get to the net you can`t dload drivers. But you can still use your XP drive to do that but don`t fret too much, as mentioned, W7 does a great job.

Only thing currently on the market that can handle a XP 32bit to Win7 64bit is Zinstall XP7.
It restores the XP stuff, apps included, after you install Win7 - so it works even if you discover the "all my apps are lost" part after the upgrade. :)
