Menushowdelay = 1

Start > Regedit > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Control Panel > Desktop

Find "MenuShowDelay"

Set it anywhere between 1 ~ 1000

Mine is at one, 0 was just way too darn fast.

My thoughts:

1. Use SSD, worthless because SSD is expensive and small in size. SAS or WD Velocity Raptor hard drives are better alternatives. Laptop users should just stick with 2.5" SATA II, not worth upgrading to SSD.

12. Disable Hibernation, if you're gonna use sleep and most if not all systems should be put into sleep mode to save power. Hibernation should be enabled for Hybrid Sleep mode.

Absolutely disagree.

1. You can get a 30GB OCZ Vertex with Trim for $99. That is ample for the Win7 OS plus a good selection of programs. Nothing else worth $99 (or even $250) can speed up your system as much as that SSD.

2. Windows 7 offers Hybrid Sleep which not only saves onto memory but also onto hard drive when in Sleep Mode in case of power failure, a very good piece of mind feature XP does not have? :sarc:

How do you know that? My Win7 including a lot of programs that runs since day1 has never really exceeded 17GB. My user data, however, is on a different partition.

Right, you make a valid point. No need to argue. Just wanted to make sure the size story came across correctly. The people you refer to are probably not rushing out buying SSDs anyhow.
Btw. for a laptop you need more capacity because you usually have only 1 bay (except some HP 17" which have 2 bays). I just got an 80GB Intel for $190 to put into one of my wife's laptops. Reason here is heat. That bugger runs so hot and even with the coolpad it is uncomfortable. But the wife needs less than 50GBs (including her data) for her Vista.

Fiddling with 7 will break it eventually. Leave services alone, and don't install themes. As to performance, the setting up 7 guide in my sig will spank 7 into shape.

Hi Nemix77, i own a laptop and i'm quite interrested in the Hybrid mode but actually doesn't see some serious thread about it...just need to understand it better how fonctionning really that Hybrid mode.

I'd like to punch the max power management saving without dumped Win7 and my battery.

Got 4gb Ram DDR3. I've already set my Hdd to write cache

Well, pretty interresting reading for me own use...I guess i'll will have to get on, that it takes a little longer to go on stanby mode due to this fact!

Wonder how much time does it takes to save data before returning from S3 to S4?

Better not have in Standby mode in your pouch if waking up and fail to S4! It might overheat...I'll work around all this.

Both normal standby and Hybrid Sleep standby/wake up time depends on how much ram you have installed. Hybird Sleep also depends on how fast your hard drive is becuase it writes to the hard drive, a faster hard drive will result in faster standby and wake up time.

Well, seems pretty correct to me...Got 4gb Ram and Sata Ahci enable writing enough fast.

I mean, when it will switch to hybrid mode, either i'm in bed or out!
