Why do I have to keep relogging in my websites ?

When you log into websites like hotmail.com or many others sites I go to I have a username and pass I have to put in which is fine. When I had xp I only had to put these user name and pass once every few months it seems. Win7 it seems like it's every two weeks and it's not just one or two sites it's all of them that lose my log on info and I have to relog in all of them. Is there a way to fix this ? For some reason today I had to relog in twice for two websites within the same day.

What you are experiencing is the enhanced security in Win7/IE8! But you can tell IE to remember your UN/PW...

To add a password to your Windows vault

1. Open User Accounts.
2. In the left pane, click Manage your credentials.
3. Click Add a Windows credential.
4. In the Internet or network address box, type the name of the computer on the network that you want to access. This can be the NetBIOS name (example: server1) or DNS name (example: server1.fabrikam.com).
5. In the User name and Password boxes, type the user name and password that you use for that computer or website, and then click OK.

Maybe you run programs like CCleaner and clean out the cookies.

I shouldn't have to do this. What I want is that the OS to stop frigging deleting my cookies. Why is it deleting cookies ? thanks

What browser are you using? For IE8 in internet options, in privacy settings, untick the option to clear browsing history on exit, and when you go to a site where you enter password details, does IE8 offer an option to save the details?

Been running or supporting Win7 since beta days and I've never had or seen this issue. Usually it is your anti-virus, anti-spyware, or anti-malware that deletes your tracking cookies. What AV/malware solutions are you running? And are they set to auto delete tracking cookies? <--- If so, set it to not do so.

Also, what version WIn7 and where did you acquire it?

Firefox has a much better password manager than internet explore, capable of remembering more than one username and password, for those who have several accts at the same site. It also has a master password option, which means if you let someone borrow your computer for a few minutes, they can't log in to your accounts without knowing it

Actually this problem of IE dropping sign in cookies has been going on a long time. It was a much bigger problem with older builds of Win 7 where it seemed to happen all the time for me and was very frustrating.

With the new build of Win 7 it only happens if I get a gaming crash or something similar where shutting the system down wasn't done properly. Using CCleaner also makes them go away no matter what cleaning settings I use.

I can't say for certain what the fix is for this problem but I wish they would put those cookies in a safer place where they aren't so prone to be delated with the slightest mistake which is just lame on Msoft's part. They need to do more to fix this problem for certain.

Using the Windows credentials as Darryl suggested is probably the only way around this problem.

Automatic logins are a good way to forget a password and lock yourself out of an acct anyway if your computer were to crash. So maybe it isn't so bad that IE can't remember sign in info.

To be serious for a second: I don't believe it's a good idea to build websites that are capable of being logged into automatically especially any when any vital information is not stored in a secure domain. Banks, for example, sometimes outsource their IT dept to a part time contractor..I believe that most identity thefts are caused by someone who first obtains a stolen computer.
However, if you are willing to take that risk. Firefox has a password manager that can remember enough login info to fill all available HDD space.
