I would mostly go back to Vista.

How ever i use Mac's at school and my Sister owns a Mac, they seem fun to use, so it hard to choose.

Mostly Vista, but would love to own a Mac LOL

XP Pro, it wouldn't cost me anything except the time taken to install it again. I never bought into Vista so I would have to go out and purchase it to use it. That ain't gonna happen. ;)

Vista x64 dual-booting with my Red Hat distro. I'm gonna echo what many people have already said - Vista just needed enough resources to run; then it was fine. What I most liked was the vastly improved stability over XP.

And if anyone asks if I would ever go back to XP, the answer is 'never, I'd get a Mac first'.

I voted for Vista because it is the system I would use most.

There needed to be multiple options. I would revert each system back to the OS it had on it before upgrading.

Vista for my desktop and XP for my netbook.

I'd go with Ubuntu, and have it loaded on both laptops and my old desktop (9.10, "Karmic Koala") as a boot option.

I've tried a number of versions of Ubuntu and always tossed them the first time I had to go to the command line and hack something to make it work. This latest version is the first one that ran out of the box, just like a Microsoft system does.

D/load, burn a CD, boot into it, answer the typical questions (language, location, system name, etc.) and off it goes. Options for "side by side" with current OS or full replace. Automated updating on a scheduled basis. Finds and installs hardware and printers. Can be networked and share files with other systems. (Sound familiar?)

It comes with Firefox and Open Office, so Internet and productivity are covered. Built-in support for images and movies, etc.

I wouldn't give up Windows 7, but I would recommend Ubuntu to someone who was looking for a system that was close, and is free. Microsoft needs to keep an eye on this one.

Took a look at it, based on your post and a couple of others. It is more like Microsoft that Ubuntu. Nice variant of Ubuntu 9.10!

I'd either run OS X 10.6 on my laptop, or Ubuntu. Nothing against Vista, it was great when it was out. But the last time I installed it, it felt slow. Very slow.

Agree about Vista. First, second, third choice would be 7. Vista if nothing else. Linux if I have to.

Not going to turn this into a OS War. (just saying that first)

OS X 10.6 was actually rather fast for me (keep in mind I also use it on a non-apple PC). Ubuntu 9.10 was fast but 10.04 Alpha 3 was very fast.

I would use Vista

The short time i used vista, i experienced NO problems at all

The world as we know it would end if I couldn't use Windows 7.
Despite hating vista and feel it is an eyesore I am not about to drop into XP again either.

I would probably run Mac OS X and vista to play games.

Since Windows 7 exisits MACOSX is siting in a corner getting dust, actually not really since it has been replaced on my macbook pro with windows 7 when I need to be portable.

What would you do if you had to reformat your hard drive SO many times just because it got infected by some malware which none of your anti-malware software could fine? Would you switch OS- or just stay with Windows?
