GTX260 Video Artifacting/BSODs

Don't have MSE installed... and I'm running the 10.2 drivers. Havn't actually gotten a BSOD on the 5770. But trying to play CoDMW2 or CS:S, after about 5 seconds of joining a game, the screen goes black, it makes a horrendous noise from my speakers... and also, the last couple times, I can hear the fan on my vid card speed up to like 100%...... very strange, but the newest game, BFBC2 plays almost perfect, besides textures glitching oddly.

EDIT: I bought a new PSU.. a good Corsair 750W with a single 60A 12V rail... It didnt change a thing so I took it back

try google-ing your PSU and motherboard and see if others are haveing simuliar issues.

Well if you do buy a new PSU and that turns out Not to be the problem then you can always take it back to the store you bought it from.

thats easier than buying a new Motherboard and rebuilding the whole system to find out the answer.

hope this helps.

cheer's

No luck man. I will be returning the ATI vid card today or tomorrow, I think I'm gonna try a different MOBO and if that fixes it, RMA my current one and sell it. Im to the point of starting over now.

I did run a Virus scanner. Clamwin is what I ran. I got these problems before, and recently re-installed Win7 with only vid card drivers and the games i play, and got the same issues. Leaving right now to take back my 5770 and gonna pick up the cheapest AM3 DDR3 mobo they have, and try it out. Wish me luck

GTX2xx series cards heat up very quickly, I have to use EVGAPrecision and clock the fan up to 100% before playing otherwise it heats up quicker than the auto-fan speed control does and either BSODS or causes artifacts.

Mind you I play with the highest possible settings in all my games while using a resolution of 1680x1050 :o

the audio drivers and such should come with the motherboard. Try the bios for the usb not working or it could be that the usb ports are not getting proper power at all. I hope this finally ends your pain and keep us updated. Its always a long night for some of these things.

Installed the drivers for the mobo, from their website since i can't use the CD.

Yea kind of stuck on the USB thing and IDE DVD Drive. It recognizes my USB keyboard and USB mouse in bios, but as soon as its about to go to desktop, they both power off. It also recognizes my DVD Drive in bios. But its nowhere to be found in windows. How could I be sure the USB ports are getting proper power?

I also have a few Yellow "!" in Device Manger, they are as follows...

IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers > Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
-----This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

System Devices > High Definition Audio Controller
------This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

Universal Serial Bus controllers > Standard OpenHCD USB Host controller
-------This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)
(Note 2 of those USB ones come up.... Device 2 and Device 4)

Also there was one that had came up that said something about Coprocessor, but it went away after installing drivers...

Any help?

This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. (Code 12)
Diagnosis

Two devices have been assigned the same input/output (I/O) ports, the same interrupt, or the same Direct Memory Access channel. The assignment was made by either the basic input/output system (BIOS), the operating system, or a combination of the two.

I also had trouble getting my usb powered keyboard and mouse to work. There is an option in the bios to configure to allow it to work. I actually used the regular legacy keyboard and mouse to make it work at first since it had no O/S working. Since you are able to be inside the O/S It may be the bios settings. Also right click and update the device driver for the ones in yellow exclamation mark it might help. Just be sure to make a restore point first.

I would recommend you flash the BIOS since there may be a new update for it as a last final chance. Also try running one piece of ram stick at a time.

Windows 7, have yet to reinstall :)
Well since I just recently did a format, I'm doing another one. I don't know if it has something to do with the fact that I didn't uninstall any mobo or chipset drivers from my old Gigabyte board, just powered down and put the new MSI board in. So I'm in the process of KILLDISKing it and then throw the fresh install of 7 on there.... hopefully that fixes my problems.....

Also last night I was able to play CODMW2 for about 20 minutes and not ONE HICCUP. Man I'm thinking it might have been my mobo all along!!!

UPDATE: Just got Windows installed, Rear USB ports work great, DVD drive is recognized, No Exclamation Points in Device Manager, I'm happy, no to installing shit and playing games for testing.. wish me luck

All I know is massive heat for the gpu or poor air circulation or bad memory sticks. Try one by one and seeing if anything changes. Most people say its because of hardware. Try testing slowly one by and seeing whats actually wrong. Do you know what causes it or what your doing when you get TDRs.

Well I'm running a Antec 300 Case. 2 120MM fans in front for INTAKE. One 140MM on top for EXHAUST, One 120MM on rear for EXHAUST, One 120MM on side blowing right on Vid Card, and my Vid Card fan at 70%. PSU fan and CPU fan. All case fans are Antec Tri-Cools on HIGH setting. GPU stays at or below 60 degrees Celcius while gaming.

Both sticks passed memtest for 10 or more passes...

I get a TDR while loading BFBC2, and in game I get missing textures/artifacts/, then it hangs and crashes. Same with CoDMW2.
I've replaced everything except CPU and RAM.

I meant to try one stick of ram on the motherboard. Test trying place BFBC2. Runs OK. Then switch it out with the other stick of Ram and test it. Are you running the sticks of ram at the correct speeds?
What if its the graphics card after it being in the motherboard and it caused it to go sour already? I am assuming your using the nvidia card still instead of the ATI one. :(

Also making a new thread with this new problem might help since I am not sure if anyone else reads it to see since its been awhile besides myself.

Are you running the sticks of ram at the correct speeds?

I can't figure out in the BIOS how to get my RAM to run at the correct speed. Couldn't figure it out on the GIGABYTE board either. I believe the memory should be 8-8-8-21 but now it is at 9-9-9-24

Also on the board and my GIGABYTE it sets the RAM VOLTAGE to 1.6V where G.Skill's website says it should be 1.5V.
