Here's all of these good people with umpteen blue screens and I can't even get one!

In the interest of never too much information, here's a couple of less than exact methods and not at all controlled forcing of Crashes ....

Run the built in Driver Verifier Tool and create a custom setting that forces everything to be logged - and then hope you have a bad driver....



Desktops / adjustable BIOS

Mess around with RAM timings... ( not so tight that the machine won't POST )

lower your vcore so the CPU is unstable...


Not exactly stellar advice, nor are they able to produce a crash on demand - but they have worked for me in the past - mostly in conjunction with not wanting a crash

SmartEyeBall,
System is too clean. Verifier won't bomb on me. Before I went on this binge, I had some crashes via verifier but I rectified that driver problem and I'm certainly not going backwards. This is a laptop. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot messing around with the bios settings. I'll leave that to the more adventurous.

The problem with the procedure is that my keyboard does not have a scroll lock key.

Good People,
Am in a learning and testing phase and need to be able to easily and quickly force a crash. More specifically I need a minidump file from my computer.

All of these people getting unwanted crashes and I want to crash.

Temporarily remap your caps lock key so that it emulates scroll lock key, then use the usual scroll key methods to crash. This is an old trick and hopefully still works.

Remap the CapsLock Key or any Key in Windows XP, 2000, Vista and 2003

There would probably also be some small utilities floating around that'll auto the job for you. You would need to google for that.
