Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers Windows 7

Might be better on older cards, there's hardly anything new on the 2xx drivers, for 400 series there's definitely difference, and has been since release.

hi all.... recently put Windows 7 on an old Toshiba s5200-701 Laptop I had... working fine... was able to install 3.6.3.9 driver for my Gforce 4 460GO card. Looks better than the standard Microsoft driver installed before. Can I install this driver for this card even though it is not officially supported? My daughter wants to play Sims Three and it won't work with this driver... thanks.

By the way upgraded the RAM on the Toshiba to 1 GB before installing 7.

Not likely. Unless something new has been put in the WHQL ones.

Hello Brink... thanks for answering...

My question is... even if my card is not listed as supported... can I install it anyway... I found a thread on how to force an install of the driver by editing the inf file. I'm just worried since the card is older... I might screw things up.

Hello Slancio, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It most likely would not install for you since it is not supported by the driver. I would recommend to only install the latest driver version that supports your card instead.

driver version 8.17.12.5896 driver date 7/9/2010 is what i'm using now ..the installer coughed during the installation...but reinstalled using windows recommended settings...opengl extensions viewer doesn't like it however...it becomes unresponsive during render tests...maybe because it's a PCI card i have...oh my scores in windows experience are Processor 4 Memory 4.5 Graphics 5.1 Gaming 4.7 Hard disk 4.7

i think these drivers are jacking up my game. after i installed them dragon age: origins started playing kind of choppy. it never did that before, could it be the new driver?

The 258.49 x64 were working alright for me but the past couple days my system has had some hanging issues at W7 startup forcing me to reboot. I don't know if its these drivers causing the problem but I went back to 197.45 and the issue hasn't come back yet. (knock on wood)
