So I recently got a new computer and I am trying to setup my Xbox 360 as an extender. However, I cannot get it to work at all. I have both my laptop and Xbox plugged into the same router. They can both can connect to the internet with no problems at all. But when I try setting up the extender it says it cannot find it. The Xbox does not show up anywhere on my computer or network.

I have tried EVERYTHING. I have my router firewall disabled, windows firewall disabled, COMODO firewall disabled, all sharing settings turned on and everything. I have searched everywhere and still found nothing. If I plug the Ethernet from my Xbox directly to my laptop it works fine. But when they are both plugged into the router I cannot see the 360 at ALL. I updated the router firmware and forwarded all the ports, and made sure UPNP is on and all that too.

Please, please, PLEASE can someone help me get this working again!!

Did you try to set your XBox in the DMZ zone? Look for the DMZ in or around the NAT section of your router and set this ip to that of the XBox or vice versa try it with the pc.

How would I set it up for my Xbox? I have DMZ enabled for the IP address of my Xbox. It didn't seem to help. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Have you tried uninstalling (not disabling) Comodo and re-enabling the windows firewall? You do not have to monkey with DMZ when it comes to using the Xbox as an extender. Also, have you followed the MS guide regarding the XBox as an extender?

Yes. I have tried that as well. I am pretty sure it is messing up somewhere with the router because if i plug the Xbox directly into the laptop it finds it and I can see all my files and everything on the Xbox, but if I try it through the router it can't find the extender at all.

Thanks in advance!

Are you using static IPs, or are you letting the router assign IP addresses?

Uninstall the Comodo firewall then reboot. Next, click on the orb (start) and type firewall. Select "Allow a program through Windows Firewall". Make sure Media Center Extenders is ticked in the Home/Work column. Reboot. See if things work after doing that.

WOW!! I just tried that this morning and it worked! But to be honest I don't really like windows firewall. Is there anyway to get it to find the extender while COMODO is still installed?

Thanks!

The Windows firewall is more than adequate for home use. In fact, that and Microsoft Security Essentials is all I have on all of my PCs. Exactly what don't you like about it?

If you want to use Comodo, I suggest contacting their support website - they should be able to give you the settings you need to get things working.
