Oh yeah, S.O.C was a nightmare to begin with bug wise. It improved a fair bit with the later patches. I persevered because it was different and had a lot of atmosphere - but it had to keep getting shelved until it was patched.
Yeah, I kept up with the patches but the patches couldn't keep up with the bugs so I shelved the game.
However It did fair a lot better than another Russian themed game - Cryostasis. That game was so buggy, and problematic, that I literally broke the disk and threw it in the trash. Objects (items) would disappear, you would get stuck in places and couldn't move, and.... the game simply lagged no matter what. A poster over at rage said the game was crippled for anyone using an ATI card so...
Think the one that's being released in 5 days will cost $9.99, so it isn't *too* bad, but still more than I think it's worth. Especially when all the DLC is already in the game, what we download just "enables" it so to speak.
It wouldn't be too bad if they sold the game at half price, because they are essentially selling a half a game. But to charge full price and then make you pay extra for what is already there is just gouging.
Especially for a game that was just released! Hmmm.... extortion is usually associated the the Mafia so....
