Hi I was wondering if it is possible to send audio along with video through my graphic card (Nvidia Geforce 9800GT) via HDMI to my TV?

Yes it should be doable, though an HDMI cable. You may have to change the playback device in the Sound applet in control panel if it doesn't automatically. I have HDMI but have never used it.

it's how I've always run, you have to make sure the nvidia driver installed the audio codec (which they should do by default now) then mute your local speakers in playback (possibly) to get the sound coming out properly.

The only thing to really keep in mind is only one audio device can be enabled at a time. (meaning if you want to use the hdmi sound, you'll need to disable the internal sound on your computer for it to kick on) but you can switch between them whenever you want.

Not with a 9800 GT as it doesn't have any built in audio. What it has is SPDIF passthrough that only works when connected to the SPDIF header from the onboard audio or sound card, and then set to SPDIF as the default playback device.
