Well, I played around and found something interesting. I was going to move my FAX and SCANNED DOCUMENTS folders (they are in Libraries -> Documents) to my D: drive (using a symbolic link or junction).

In FAX and Scan, if you go to FAX VIEW, you can see the following folders (left pane):

Incoming
Inbox
Drafts
Outbox
Sent Items

However, on C:\Users\me..\My Documents\FAX there are only 2 folders:

Drafts
Inbox

If you go to Tools -> FAX settings ADVANCED tab, it shows an archive folder location of:

C:\Program Data\Micrsoft\Windows NT\MSFax

In that location, I have:

Activity Log
Common Coverpages
Inbox
Queue
SentItems (missing space)
VirtualInBox

There's a welcomefax.tif file in VIRTUALINBOX as well as the C:\Users\me...\My Documents\Fax\Inbox. So, I renamed the one in fax\inbox and now when I open FAX and Scan, that tif IS missing so F&S must be looking at the one in USERS\me...

But, what's this "archive" location for that shows on FAX Settings ADVANCED tab?

Anyone looked at this before?

It's very bizarre.

The MSFax folder is protected/hidden.

I can't see how the 5 folders shown in the left pane match either of those locations UNLESS they are "merged".

Copies of send faxes not visible on new desktop

I am setting up Windows Fax & Scan on a new desktop running Win 7-64. I have copied all incoming fax files from the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\Inbox folder on my old desktop (also running Win 7-64) to the Inbox folder on my new desktop, they are visible in the Inbox inside the WF&S app on my new desktop. That was my goal.

However, when I copy the sent fax files from C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\SentItems on my old desktop to the SentItems folder on the new desktop, the sent faxes are not visible in Sent Items inside the app. on the new desktop.

Do you know what else I need to do to make the send faxes visible in Sent Items inside WF&S on my new desktop?

Hi,

I have a suggestion that run for me.

1. at first send an FAx on your fresh System.

After sucessfull send of an FAx, the System generates a new tif file in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\SentItems

2 Copy your old Fax files into the Folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\SentItems

You will see a File Names like S-1-5-21-4018873271-2821981067-3018615930-1001$201d04575915066.tif

3 Change every old file NAmes. from S-abc$201d04575915066.tif to S-xyz$201d04575915066.tif

The nummber in fromt of the $ is a kind of ID Tag saying the system just to show the faxes to you.

After changin the file name, the faxes should apear.

sorry for my bad englisch
